"When you run the football like this, and you show toughness...there is no doubt when you fake it... "

That maybe just unsold me on the game. That exact line was in 15. Same recording. I'm usually not an every year madden guy anyway, but when so much is recycled it really puts me off. Commentary especially because after a lot of hours in one game, the lines become really repetitive. One could argue to just turn off commentary, but I play football games to recreate the real broadcast experience. I want it to feel as authentic as possible.

Fucking Adam Schefter being even more annoying than usually in this draft mode jesus H.

I played on turf for playoff games in high school and it burns like crazy if you fall on it at speed. It's no joke.

It's not football season until Alex tells Vinny about how Pete Carroll is a 9/11 truther.

I like how they have the refs going to the review booth. It a really stupid thing to have in a video game.

My jaw dropped in awe of the pure stupidity of having a call reversed in a computer simulation......WHY?!?

It's a computer simulation built with the goal of simulating a real world sport as accurately as possible. Sometimes refs miss something or make mistakes. It's a part of the sport. Not having that would make for a less realistic experience and that completely goes against the design of the game.

I loved Drew's reaction when it happened live (20:07). It looks as if he's about to spit his beer all over the monitor and the people on the couch.

Oh wow, Vinny had a rough 4th quarter in the quicklook. I like how Alex is able to show off some new features in Madden so I know what's actually different in it.

That race change clip was hilarious. I tried to find it on Jeff's public facebook since they uploaded it, but it wasn't there. I did find someone very unhappy with him for his GoW review (not going to link it, but it's an early comment on Jeff's public page).

This actually looks like a legitimate jump forward for the series. That said, there is no chance in hell that the Cardinals will be in the Super Bowl.

God bless Vinny. He has no idea or interest in what he's doing but he does it with a smile anyway. Lol @Alex blatantly running up the score.

PS. The reason that the clock stops after an incompletion is because the ball could be very far from the line of scrimmage so the referees would have too much influence on the pace of the offense.

God, I'm not a sportsm'n, but American football as a concept looks remarkably boring. It still beats cricket, but that doesn't say much.

How is this such a big thing over there?

@tgjessie: American Football is formatted to be a nearly perfect spectator sport. Each game is a saga, each drive is a story, and each play is a chapter -- and all of them feature built-in anticipation, tension, and release. There are an average of around 40 first downs in each game, and every one of them is a victory or a defeat. The time between plays is perfect for fretting, cheering, discussion, refilling a drink, or grabbing the next handful of popcorn. With only 16 games in the regular season, very few can be considered unimportant. The NFL playoffs are single-elimination, so the stakes ratchet up dramatically.

I was really impressed by this game, especially coming off a lackluster E3 showing. The face models are pretty great and they did up the realism with the catches and penalty calls.

And Alex, they don't auto pick the coin toss for you. It's in the menu option before the game starts which side you pick and if you want to kick or receive first.

Is Tom Brady suspended for the first few weeks of Madden 16?

(I'm more of a basketball fan & deflate-gate is pretty much the only thing I know about when it comes to football right now.)

As with most sports, it helps to enjoy Football if you:

A) played it at some point

B) watched it with your family and friends growing up

I didn't do either, so its appeal is lost on me. But its always fun watching Vinny mess around on the field.

I like it. Arguing referees' decisions is a part of any good sport and no simulation would be complete without it.

From the thumbnail, I thought this was NHL.

"And I thought I was being a cool football strategist." "I'm sorry, Vinny."

GB QLs are still the best thing about all those yearly EA sports games. The game does look fun tough, might be time for me to get on the Madden train again.

edit: Also WTF is going on at Levis stadium during the super bowl? A million people brought a strong flash camera and looks like they are snapping picks every 4 seconds. That or aliens.

@tgjessie: Because it's a lot easier for us to root for petty sports rivalries than realize we've got serious problems to fix as a country? That's the way I always looked at it. Not fair to football though: I think that about every sport...especially when fans say "we" or "us" while talking about their chosen team as if they had something to do with it.

Also - This sure looks like another Madden game. Why not just sell updated roster downloads and be done with it already? People dropping sixty bucks a year on this is almost getting offensive.

No, you can't onside off of a safety. Onsides happen from the kick-off, when there's a safety you're punting, not kicking off.

Also, whoever asked, no you can't switch teams in the intro but you can intentionally lose as the Steelers (with a bit of work) if you want to see a Cardinals win (or like me, just hate the Steelers). It sets you up on that final drive no matter what but if you take off and run or stand there and get sacked you can run the clock out.

Holy crap, Frank Gore is on the Colts? Man, I feel woefully underprepared for any football after the Bears killed me last year.

And oh, Madden... The more realistic it gets, the more unintended hilarity ensues with some of these animations.
