This actually doesn't seem that bad. It's kinda funny and has that old school B-Game vibe. I wouldn't pay for it, but I'm glad it exists in this age of AAA games as a service with big budgets and open worlds that all feel the same.

I also appreciated that Kazaam reference.

This is the most lazy, unfunny writing I’ve seen in a while. Alex’s Robot Chicken comparison was accurate, though this is somehow worse.

I spent my childhood playing Streets of Rage 1 and 2 and I still love the atmosphere and soundtrack of those games but even I recognize beat'em'ups are bad and there is no reason for someone to release one in 2018.

This is a just a really mediocre beat em up with bad writing, there's a bunch of good modern beat 'em ups, like Fight 'N Rage for example.

This distinctly looks like an early Xbox Live Arcade game. Something about the lighting I think.

The 2D animation looks nice though.

The Beast crew is calling this game racist, sexist, and homophobic? None of the joke were "grade A" material, sure. But come on... What comedy doesn't make these types of jokes? What stand up comedian doesn't? Are you holding Shaq Fu of all things, to a higher standard? Were we expecting a crowd funded beat-em-up to set the new bar in socially conscious comedy?

And even if you want to go for edgy comedy, the writing needs to be waaaay more on point than this.

Woof. The gameplay seems passable enough for what's meant to be a joke delivery machine, but they forgot to, y'know, add jokes.

Yeah there are still some good beat'um ups coming out. I played Mother Russia Bleeds fairly recently and thats alright. I only paid £3 for it though, if i'd paid much more for it i'd feel worse about it. These types of games are short for a reason (aside from them originating in arcades) they're very repetitive and there isnt much depth but they can be a fun way to blow of steam, kind of the gaming equivalent of junk food.

About the racism thing I think what they were going for was a James Hong type character and not just going 'hey look hes speaking engrish, isnt that funny, ha ha'. People tend to jump the gun a bit these days though so avoiding these types of characters is probably the smart thing to do.

That being said this game isnt very funny, even Shadow Warrior (new and old) had better jokes than this.

just for the sake of posterity, i have to comment that the "Frizzle" boss was based on Chris Brown, based on his "Merry-Go-Brown" attack and his comment where he says he's "not used to fighting a dude." the jokes are in bad taste, folks!

@hobbaswaggle: Nah, beat-em-ups are good, some of my favorite games are part of the genre. It's just easy to make a bad one, especially if you don't wanna put any effort in, as is evident with these devs.

I love the B grade cheese fest that is this game. Looks like a fun romp for a couple hours. Shame its not multiplayer. The low brow '90's cartoon' humour is funny to me. Breath of fresh air from all this "everything has to be high brow/witty meme or its not funny" we constantly get shovelled down our throats.

I feel bad for the designers/animators who did a good job here just to have the writing and gameplay come and shit on all of it

Shadow warrior 2 could have been a really good game but the writing etc ruined it. I'm tired of devs trying to be funny in games it doesn't work unless it's Sam n max and I'm 13.

This game is dumb. I think calling the insult to the sumo type enemy "body-shaming" is a little bit stupid though. Grow a thicker skin.

this game is aggressively regressive in every conceivable way. every facet of its existence is of a time thankfully passed. it is an anachronistic curiosity of the things we used to find appealing, and now look back on and wonder how and why we ever enjoyed them.

I don't get why people have to be offended by everything, for everyone else.
