I don't understand the comments that are defending Dan's general dismissive attitude towards anything he doesn't actively like as him being sarcastic. If you constantly say things that make you seem like a jerk, the fact that you are being "sarcastic" doesn't provide you much defense, you are just being a jerk.

I don't think giant bomb should be in the business of alienating their fans. If people are actively seeking to make their opinions heard, and that they are not comfortable with the attitudes of of the personalities on this site, that should absolutely not be denigrated by everyone here. Don't be shitty to other people, even if you are masking it by being "sarcastic".

You said "some" of it was outsourced as a qualifier, when in fact majority of it is done at Mir. Although one way or another, I don't see how this is important, seeing as how I was just letting you know that the bulk of work wasn't done in the states. Also there is no singular director for ATLA, seeing as how every episode was directed by a rotating group of people. Volpe was simply one of many, including Bryan and Mike themselves. I'll take your word on the whole Gainax thing. I know they have said that anime has been an influence(obviously), but I had never heard of any specific studios.

As for the Jason thing, even still he was kind of playing it weirdly. You can be attacking the mech with water bending and earth bending the entire time, instead of just waiting around for counter oppurtunities. The whole fight shouldn't really take much longer then 2 or 3 minutes the first time you play through it. But whatever, again, not that important. It was just something I thought I would point out.

After watching this, I don't see the big deal. Nickelodeon is children's entertainment. Know what you're watching and own it, if you're a fan. Keep in mind, however, that the guy who said it is a wrestling fan, which is mostly for adolescent boys. Everything is fine.

@adequatelyprepared: That true. It just a little tiring that people still say things after all the year cartoons and anime has progress, specially after a point where they were about to disappear. It kinda like how public media still considers video games as for kids and a recent news called out negatively at people who watch twitch.

Gained a lot of respect for Dan over his love for DMC. It's my favorite in the series too.

I ironically feel that most of the things in the video @metalsnakezero: posted are in themselves fallacies.

I personally feel that conflict is just impossible to avoid. I feel except for scientific matters, there are no guaranteed truths. One side is going to think one thing and the other side is going to think another.

I feel it is totally okay to not find Dan funny and to think he is being mean. It is totally in your right to ask for things to change. Yet, I personally find Dan to be funny and don't think his comments, especially in this video, are not offensive at all. I like humor based on previously established relationships and jokes and that is what I feel many of Dan's jokes to be. No side can ever use "I'm just saying my opinion" because it creates an endless loop. Well, I am just saying an opinion on your opinion which is based on that lady's position and so on.

In the end, you won't agree with me and I won't agree with you. We can try to make logical arguments, but issues like this are highly debatable and based on opinion, perspective, and emotions. There is no truth.... no universal constant to judge by. I don't want Dan to change while some feels like he needs to. In the end, all arguments will probably eventually lead to fallacy unless provable scientific fact is involved.

Anyways, logical fallacies are for dorks and blind rage is for cool guys.

@oddbit: It's the best because it's the one I started watching in high school and so is now a sacred thing. With the praise season three of Korra got I always meant to go back and start watching it, but free time isn't what it once was.

I love how some people get so pissy when Dan says something dismissive about something they like. He's just messing with you.

Dear GiantBomb. It is of the utmost importance that you fire Dan posthaste. I was born without a sense of humor, and Dan's continued existence on this website is offensive to my sensibilities or lack thereof. Dan's postmodern attitude frightens and confuses me. His deportment is neither clearly snarky, like Alex's, nor is it clearly matter of fact, like Drew's. I do not know how to process the supposed witticisms of this Dan fellow. In your future hiring endeavors it would behoove you to only hire plainly earnest individuals.

@unastrike After the Bayonetta talk and knowledge of animated stuff, I'm curious about your thoughts on Asura's Wrath. The mechanics are fairly simple for a character action game, but the over-the-top action and melodrama brought in some of the best parts of Japanese games. On higher difficulties it can get pretty tough despite the limited combat system, which made it far more fun than people give it credit for.

I thought it was a hell of a game (right behind Mass Effect 3 on my 2012 game of the year list). I'd also ask Dan, but anime.

Noticed Jason didn't know how to use Chi and was having problems with the benders. I think that was because he was't using lock. I don't think he really got the basics down yet for the game.

It bums me out that even when the most knowledgeable person on staff about Platinum plays a Platinum game that things still get ignored. Jason probably would of had a better time had he bought the healing accessory considering if you're in a bind you can run away for a few seconds to get some health back super quick. You can also buy an accessory that stops knockbacks if your chi is charged. Jason doesn't seem to really get the point of charged moves at all, so that's not great. Then wiping his save to end it. I guess he'll never see more of it ever again. DSP as fuck.

Also jeez, DmC being anyone's favorite DMC game.

That early remark in the Quick Look of Dan leaving childish things behind is questionable. I feel bad for Jason. There been times I lost progress from games and get super mad for a while then I chill out. If I did not like the game. I would never go back to it.

Dan even admitted that he considers himself a giant nerd/dork and thus him calling other stuff "for nerds" is obviously him joking around. I'm not sure why people still think he's totally serious.

Maybe it's because I watched Avatar and Korra back to back, but I think Korra is a terrible show. 12-14 episode seasons aren't working for it.
They should stick to short stories. I loved the story of Wan, the first avatar.

Isn't there a way to load a save from the cloud? Or does it automatically replace the save as soon as you overwrite it?

I like Jason. Quality dude with a soothing voice and personality, I want him to be my therapist or something. And he actually seems to be really good at video games, even during quicklooks, Brad woulda probably been stuck at that first boss they did for a hour :P That ending Jason meltdown lol, hilarious.

Still amazed at how many people don't realize Dan is joking, always. Seems like people want to take offense to everything and be victims these days, seeing it more on more on this website lately, it's getting really annoying. <3 you Dan.

I take it you can only play it that way on your second or more play through though? With lots of upgrades or whatever?

I'm sure Dan is just being silly with his "nerd-baiting" but jesus does it turn this site fucking toxic. I'm starting to get pushed off this site because of the nastiness in the comments that always follow. Eagerly awaiting the condescending replies telling me to go already.

It's weird, I'm a huge anime fan and I found Dan's comment to be funny. I was not alienated at all by it. I'm trying to figure out what the difference is between those who were and weren't. To me it's akin to saying "anybody who eats buffalo wings bone out is a jerk". It's just funny to me.

Also countering Dan by seriously stereotyping everyone who likes wrestling feels kind of contradictory, and makes me feel like those who do that aren't actually that serious about being sensitive to peoples' hobbies, or unwittingly weakening the value of the thing they're standing up for. Not saying that's true, but if you're gonna construct an argument, just be aware of that.

Dan's not "just sarcastic," he's just a jerk. Unfortunately the majority of this site don't mind behavior that belittle others in this community, and that majority justify it by being backed by the rest of the majority.

It's awesome to have opinions - it's why we're here, because we want to know the staff's opinions.

But putting down the opinions of your own audience is a good way to lose that audience. And banning the audience when they speak up on their opinions? Embarrassing.

I like Dan and think he's very funny and while i feel my stomach knot up when he blows something off or says something hypocritical i just realize that I'm being owned and that while I appreciate him as an entertainer, I'm not sure how well we'd get along in my hypothetical real life that i sometimes write short stories about in my journal.
