FFIX was the last FF that's wasn't shit. VIII gets lumped in with the trash.

I would argue that VIII was the down fall of FF. It is a prototype of modern FF games. FFVII still kept things standard with the combat and story structure with the characters and design. VIII was the massive leap to horrible battle systems, plot, and a more a focus was put in to what characters were wearing than actual game play. IX was saying goodbye to classic FF.

Well, it didn't look like Brad was "finishing off" the bosses he was coming up against in the battles, even though he was clearing the level. So I would guess that as you level up, you'll be able to kill off the monsters you face quicker, and do more "damage" to the bosses and eventually kill them too. I don't know what that would do gameplay-wise or score-wise, but I assume it would have SOME effect.

I need this game. Inside me. As soon as possible. I also don't really want the XL, so this works out.

I was thinking about getting a 3DS but then they announced the XL. Twice as much screen AND a bigger battery for like $40 more? Yeah, I think you've got yourself a deal, Nintendo.

Although the lack of a second analog stick is sad. Thankfully there aren't many games that really benefit from it right now.

I consider FFT to be the best FF (never was a fan of the core series), but I can easily see why someone would think otherwise; it's my personal PREFERENCE that I like that game more than the other FF games.

Buying this for my inner child.

This makes me just want a new Elite Beat Agents.

I actually kinda like this. Maybe I'll pick it up for my shiny new XL. FF6 was the best for me btw.

As a FF fan who's imported soundtracks, and seen Final Fantasy music played by an orchestra, this game is brilliant. This is basically my dream rhythm game. So there is definitely a market, even if many don't see it.

My only problem is it's not on Vita. :(

I hate to be part of the problem and that guy but I would buy and play the HELL out of this game on iOS.

I hope Brad has realised you can turn down/off the sounds of the tapping (succeeding or failing to hit on beat) so as to only hear the song. You can also simply listen to the songs on their own without having to do well in the rhyth to go forward, and you can practice them at different difficulties without having to add a "try" to the counter of how many times oyu have played (as well as simply being able to see everything in the song without having to be good enough to finish it). These are some key things he didn't point out.

@MrAristocrates: FF 12 is in this game. All of them 1-13 is this (don't know about others). You can find a full list of the main games songs online (however many songs ar emissing from those lists as they haven't been unlocked/translated from Japanese yet.

Given this is probably one of the worst sites to get anything on Final Fantasy, it's cool to see Brad likes it.

Tap Tap Nostalgia: The Game

Really not feeling the art or presentation. Looks too much like a cheaply skinned flash game with Nintendo font and old game capture video.

This would be awesome if they released it on mobile platforms! Kinda wish I had a 3DS, this looks like what I want a portable game to be like.

Oh and FFIX was the best.

@Dixavd: Remember, these Quick Looks aren't full on reviews but more just kind of first impressions mixed in with a few hours of playing. Sometimes they don't get to everything because they haven't played the entire thing yet

The articles I've read said bigger screen, bigger battery. Of course, the bigger screens offset the bigger battery a little, but supposedly you'll get between 3-5 of straight playtime on a 3DS title, and a couple more if it's just a normal DS game.

@ThatIndianGuy7116: I was ratting on the guys, just pointing out things people should know.

And I specifically pointed out the ability to turn off the tapping sound as they say in the video how it takes away from the game with those sounds being throughout - they actually pointed it out as an annoying negative so I wanted to make sure people knew they were wrong.

And it is in the options menu - who doesn't look at the options menu when paying a game to show off (and don't tell me this is first impressions - he has gotton to level 15 with all characters before this and got a 67% pass rate on the normal difficulty of the main game.

And the inability to point out the Practice thing is just a clear oversight - something he has to know about as you see it when choosing a song in challenge mode - it was literally option there that most people watching don't know about because they failed to point it out (the only reason I do is because a demo for this game came out on the eshop a week or so ago in Europe).

Just pointing out things they should have pointed out and which a lack of information will actually sway peoples opinions on this game (imagine the number of people who see this and think "I have to hear these songs with the tapping succeed/failure sounds and there is no way of just listening to the songs on their own? - Fuck this game!") It is important information.

@Dixavd: I was just saying that the Series (three songs in a row) skipped from X to XIII. I don't doubt that there are songs from XII in here.

Edit: especially since they had the final boss arena in there.

And the comment about FF7 having done more harm than good is misleading, FF7 is still an outstanding game in an of itself.

It just happened to become an event game that everybody bought without necessarily knowing the genre. Following that tons of other developers/publishers started designing their games the same way. The burden of having destroyed creativity and variety in the genre is not on FF or Square, it's on all the others who just decided to copy.

It's the same situation that happened with Call of Duty 4. It is an outstanding shooter that got copied over and over again for being so much more popular than anything else on the market at the time. That the market today is saturated with shooters with the same structure isn't Infinity Wards fault.

It gets maddeningly difficult...

@MrAristocrates: I think it is just because Brad hasn't unlocked it (I am not sure on the progression in this game but I don't think you start with all the games story section things).

But it has a Battle Theme, Field Theme, Event Theme, Opening Special and Ending Special as needed for those story section parts so I assume it is in there (XI does too).

(edit-- I meant to say that they have them all in the game as you can see by going to Theatrhythm's Wikia page so I assume they have a section of them all together as well)
