Wow I refreshed the page and this appeared out of nowhere! xD

Voodoo Vinny! What a concept.

Pretty generic 3D plat-former for the most part but has madddddddddddddddd style. Still listen to alot of the ost when i'm chillin.

I wish Jeff did this quicklook i remember him reviewing it on gamespot.

We have a new character, Vegas Vince.

God, Phil Spencer was right there in the credits while they were saying goodbyes and didn't notice. I guess it's really lost in time and space now. (:

Went to credits to look for Phil Spencer's name but didn't react when they reached it. I guess they didn't see it?

This game is actually pretty cool. Reminds me of Psychonauts.

I want Phil Spencer and Mark Cerny to fight a pokémon-like battle with Knack and Voodoo Vince.

Of course they picked the Propeller Room.

The propeller room was the absolute worst... in Banjo Kazooie. Never really played this game.

Another great high concept bit from Dan lol. This video's true star is Phil Spencer.

Does anyone know if there's a "better" game of this style? Like, 3D platformer that isn't a collectathon?

@barna: they're very different beasts - mobygames is definitely better for credits information, but the GB wiki is centered around associating games with concepts. While the GB wiki has never reached its full potential, the idea still has a ton of merit. For example, the concept page for sausages will give you a much more comprehensive overview of sausages in games than a mobygames search.

How did Dan get so far in the game without understanding the basic mechanics of jumping and spinning?

I'm really enjoying this game again. Not too many things to collect and a good deal of good platforming

Ok, you're right, the idea of concepts on the GB wiki is very interesting and generally a cool thing.

I'm just salty because it seems to me like the staff here always goes out of their way to not mention mobygames. The game browser there is very powerful and besides just being a good credits source, the exhausting genres and drill-down and sort options helped me remember multiple titles of games from my childhood.

Also it's just a bummer in general that there are multiple game databases with some information but not just the one. But then there is the other bummer about the content license used by all video game wiki sites which is not good at all. Having that content owned by the companies behind the sites is just wrong. Especially seeing the problems MobyGames had. I'm surprised and saddened that the new ownership hangs onto that license model.

William Tell was supposeidly a real person in Switzerland.

He refused to doth his cap to a noble man. The noble man had heard Tell was a very skilled marksman with a crossbow and said that he'd let Tell off the failing to doth his cap charge if he could show his skills.

He was asked to shoot an apple off his son's head, which he did.

@engineno9: Dan often forgoes entire mechanics of games if they don't click with him straight away or if he doesn't find a need for it. Remember in Metal Gear Scanlon V When he told Drew to use only one weapon and never change his camo and again in Rising when he said parrying wasn't important? Parrying was one of the best and most fun parts of that game.

so when's the Blinx the Time Cat remaster coming

The more I see of this, the more it reminds me of Psychonauts. I never owned an original Xbox but I think I'm gonna pick this up on Steam.

@engineno9: To be fair to dan, thats literally the first time the game explains the mid-air spin mechanic to you so its easy to default to the hover move which is explained in the first room & not experiment since it'll get the job done in the early levels.

@huckleberrysassacre: Unicorn Lynx is an international treasure, and I'll have you know that he's a Russian-Israeli living in China. He also plays X68000 games sometimes :P

The cynical side of me of is saying that Microsoft putting this game out is telling of the depth of their catalog for X1.

Seems okay. Some of the sound effects sound straight out of Jak and Daxter. The spin jump sound and the elixir jar collecting in this game sounds is like the precursor orb collection sound in Jak.

Really? The more I see, the less it seems like Psychonauts to me. Similar art style, but none of the humor, and the humor was the reason Psychonauts was so great. Every time this voodoo doll opens his mouth I want to jump off a bridge.

Dan always surprises me, I thought going in Dan would hate on this. Everything about this game looks absolutely miserable.

You can only double jump while ascending? That sounds goofy.

Something about the camera angle/movement combined with the tunnels immediately made feel queasy. Had to stop watching because of it just a couple of minutes in.

Odd, as I've never had that happen with any other game.

Surprised Dan tried this out since it came out in the era where he said he ignored all games like this because they were "kiddy" and he was a cool guy man person. He should definitely check out some of the others out there like Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, etc to see what he missed out on.
