Loved the Silent Hill games I've played, 2 and 4. Heard bad things about the movie so I never saw it. After watchin this I don't think I ever will.

I agree with everything Ryan said. All my complaints of the movie are in this 6 minute video. And all my praises.

  This is my absolute favorite video game film. I'm a huge Silent Hill fan so I definitely took a critical approach to this one in particular. The liberties it took in addition to the faithfulness it kept to the series were done with great execution. Roger Avery is the MAN.

I knew that joke was coming as soon as I saw the Google screen.

It was a lot better then every other video game movie out there!!!  And yea I really did enjoy the 1st half of the movie, the ending area wasn't that bad either but does stray a little.

I think Silent Hill the movie is the best adaption so far. I'm actually looking forward to the sequel. I'm also a fan of the games, so I'm glad the movie did the games justice. They even used music from the games during the movie.

Jedted: you should look into Ghostbusters, it's a reference from that. :)

I had this movie for ages, watched like 1/3 of it and decided that it wasn't worth it.
I think the hamburger page would make it a lot more watchable, where can I get the directors cut with the hamburger pages in it?

I was dreading this TANG because I think Silent Hill is a great film, it's bold and unique with a striking vision.  It's the cinematic equivalent of a Goya painting, and thus there is nothing else like it. 

RE: Ryan's criticisms - I don't think the dialogue is wooden but you could say that same thing about Star Wars or the Matrix  - other fantasy or science fiction films with a spiritual subtext.

Also the 'six-minute' exposition does not feel forced to me, in truth it was most likely a concession to modern movie audiences (many of whom STILL didn't understand it) but regardless I think it is compelling in it's own right.  Another 'more arty' cut would perhaps be truer to the original games ambiguities, but would likely alienate the majority of viewers even more.

The art direction was the only redeeming quality of this movie...
Well, that and Giant Bomb making Sean Bean search Hamburgers.
The movie has finally fulfilled it's purpose.

Ryan not being too familiar with the games didn't note that music for the film was done by the same composer that did the games.  With that particular style of music that fits the games so well, it was a very smart move and helped the film greatly.

Silent Hill is arguably the best video game movie, while that isn't saying much when the closest competitor is Mortal Kombat, it does what a vidja game movie should do, emulate the experience while being entertaining to those unfamiliar with the subject.

Don't be dissin' Brotherhood of the Wolf.

I enjoyed the hell out of the movie. I liked how it did it's own thing, making it fresh for huge fans of the series like myself.

As for that whole business about hammy dialogue... Well if you've played Silent Hill, you're probably used to that.

"Cheryl? Is that Cheryl?" "What's going on here?!"

Silent Hill is probably the best video game-based movie ever. It's got everything right. The storyline. The sound effects. The atmosphere. Everything. All being faithful from the source material. This is how you make a good video game movie. However, the only ting I didn't like is the main character. Why Rose? Why make a new character? Why not stick to Harry Mason? Sean Bean would be great to be Harry Mason rather than being a useful husband worrying here and there. But overall, Silent Hill is the best video game movie ever.
