Dan makes me so angry sometimes, and I hate myself for that

Alright, I'm out. It's the first time ever I stop watching anything from GB out of frustration, but it's finally happened. I'll skip every third episode, I guess!

Edit: see it as "constructive criticism": Dan's approach to this series (and to Murder Island, to a lesser degree) is not funny nor entertaining IMHO. It just lessens a cooperative experience with no payoff. I know the comments section will always complain about stuff, but I hope Dan (and the rest of the crew) don't dismiss the criticisms outright. Sometimes it's less "you're playing it wrong" and more "this is not entertaining to anyone" :)

Man Dan is going against what it means to name someone by just taking them over because they are the highest level.

This is just like when Dan tried to play D&D with the west coast crew and he immediately tried to kill his own party members and wanted to get everything for himself, which sucked the life out of that series too.

You guys take this way too seriously.

I know this is going to get lost in the 100's of rage comments that are about to come...but, yanno, you can already tell from the comments that if the first Dan video pissed you off, this one is as well. So maybe, just don't watch it? Jeff has stated in the past the monitor views when deciding content going forward....so its probably the best form of "protest"

Hopefully Abby does the right thing and brings Langzone back.

Haven't even hit play and know this is gonna be a 300+ comment shit storm. I for one love the idea that Dan fucks everything up, Abby tries her best but fails, and Alex gets everything back on track. The circle of life?

Eh deleting Lang was a bit of a shit move. What's the point of even naming these characters after people if they can just get replaced at any time on the whim of an egotist? Hope this doesn't happen again.

Edit: This series would have been good if it was played straight. Dan's 'shtick' is ruining it. Looking forward to the next one.

I actually found this pretty hilarious, especially Vinny's reaction to Dan just casually going to delete Brad.

I thought this was a great episode! The difference between the three playstyles is making for a pretty interesting story.

Abby is absolutely fucked next episode.

I'd have been fine with it if he'd just made a rookie into neo Dan Ryckert, back from the dead but replacing the sniper who had a bunch of kills already is a bit much. Abby and Alex should get to bring back their dudes now that everyone is on a bit more of an even keel with the game but if any of them get killed from now on, that's that IMO.

Of course, in truth we all know that the cowardly Dan Ryckert, as a double bluff, actually put his consciousness into the rookie and just called him a "double" and assumed that nobody would bother to target a rookie. Which obviously means that the Sniper Langzone brain replacement is the actual double. Langzones uh... advanced, unique brain and personality will probably also reject the crude surgery performed by Dan and retake control in the next episode. Or the terror mission will be the end of them all, tune in next week!

Really really great editing work on these intros. This one was the best yet.

And after renaming their best soldier after himself, he was going to leave him behind on the mission so as not to risk him. Man... I love Dan - but is he actively trying to get them to wipe? :)

Dan's heel shtick is wearing a bit thin, to put it mildly.

Sounds like I'm skipping this one.

Guys, Dan's just playing a character, and getting mad about it just feeds him.

It's clearly more entertaining for him than it is for us, but what are you gonna do.

I remember when I got three friends together to play Magicka. That game is fun because the more you try to work together and win, the more crazy bad stuff can end up happening, which is funny because it's unexpected. One friend learned the skill that called lightning down on a random person, instantly killing them. It was funny, but then he kept doing it, constantly, with no enemies on screen, for hours. We even switched to the Tron robes to absorb lightning but the spell still knocked us over. It killed that game harder than anything I've seen, because one guy decided sabotaging everybody else's experience was going to be his Brand. Dan is That Guy, and I'm not angry, just kinda bummed out.

Dan thinks he's a Kaufman-level comedian. In reality it's just sort of predicable and boring.

Abby needs training for next mission

Yeah like, I'm not angry Dan is trying to turn another coop feature into his own branding platform. It's just sad since the series is fun when it's Alex or Abby. Even if Dan was going to play secret traitor to liven things up with his tired heel stuff, his gimmick of self promotion is super lame. I'll just skip every three episodes until it the series dies earlier than it should I guess.

Yeah exactly. This is exactly what everyone thought would happen so I don't know how anyone really finds it that funny when it's so predictable. The first episode was sufferable since you could think it was him getting it out of his system but if he's just going to try and screw up the experience then it's not worth it.

That mission went really well!

I got the impression from the comments that Dan also tanked another mission which is why I didn't want to bother. If it's just renaming the character that's lame and unfunny but not nearly as bad.

This is still a great idea for a series. I wish I liked watching it more. I feel kinda bad that it's been hijacked by heel shenanigans

At this point I'm watching just to see Alex (and Vinny) trying to undo all the damage Dan and (to a lesser extent) Abby cause. It seems like a tougher challenge than XCOM or its mods could ever provide by themselves.

His changing two characters' names does nothing (although it's pretty childish, especially since he's overwriting other people's work). The problem is that he then goes on to assign benefits (and deaths) to those characters solely based on their names and with no regard to what they, and the team as a whole, actually need.

That part can't be undone or recreated since these are rare, limited, one-shot deals that are being wasted on the least useful character (in relation to the benefits) in the roster. XCom is funny when you struggle against the odds and the RNG screws you over at the last opportune moment. A guy sabotaging a three-person effort for no good reason is not — not even if it's "a bit".

Because of his efforts, they're rapidly running out of troops, of money to hire more troops, and of bonuses and useful upgrades to apply to the few troops they have left. The only way to "recreate" anything from that is to click on "new game."

When someone posted the thumbnail in the last video comments my heart sank but it turned out to be so much worse than I could have imagined. I mean props to Dan "I played it on Easy and it was still hard" Ryckert for finishing a mission this time but as the caption suggests he is completely ruining the collaborative storytelling that I think Papa Vinny wanted this series to be. I'd formally request that Dan be excluded from the annual Fiasco-cast if that tradition indeed continues since time and time again he proves that he's not interested in roleplaying unless it is entirely self-promoting. I really should've known better than to click on this so that's on me. I think there are things about this feature that are cool. I just think there's at least one person in this series who isn't pulling their weight in terms of entertainment. At least I can look forward to seeing how many of America's sweethearts get sent to their deaths by commander Russel next episode.

The sense of impending dread and hopelessness is far too present in XCOM for me to feel that Dan introducing more is anything other than extremely dissatisfying.
