When I saw this in the upcoming I for some reason started thinking it was In the Mouth of Madness. Couldn't recall the name at the time thinking that movie went by The Gate. Turns out these are very different movies lol.

Oh shit! I remember seeing part of this movie as a kid on cable. I always had a memory of the kid stabbing the eyeball in his hand but never saw the whole thing until now.

Great stuff! Hoping Troll 2 is on the to-do list.

I was wrong, this movie is great fun! Little Dorff was genuinely convincing, which is hard to pull off when we're seeing baby demons running around.

I liked the way firearms and a bible ('adult' things) didn't work, but the 'childish' solutions to problems (using the barbie doll and rocket, etc.) did. It's cool that in this movie's lore, the stuff that makes kids happy are more powerful against the horrors than prayers and bullets. As ludicrous as it is, I liked that subtle layer of kid-logic.

There's also a little theme of how being away from your parents could be real scary when you were young, and make your imagination get iffy without their presence. The Terry kid's mother being dead was the root of his fear; Glen and Al's parents being gone let their own fears manifest more strongly--Glen is clearly anticipating his dog's death, which is a weird feeling at that age, and Al is going through the phase of worrying way too much about how she looks and her status among her dumbass friends, which could be interpreted as another childish fear of abandonment.

I'm not looking into it very deeply, this is obvious shit, not an art film, ha, but I'm surprised it had even an iota of subtext for such a superficially corny film. I like it! 7/10 for me.

I've never seen this, but I've heard about it. For a long time you couldn't get it anywhere so it's interesting how it's so easily accessible atm. Better watch it now before it goes away again.

Just wanted to say I appreciate having one movie that was more cheesy and goofy than scary. Don't like horror movies so it was nice to have at least one movie I could watch and have a good time with.

So happy film and 40s is back. I had not seen this movie in over 20 years and had a blast wathing it again with you guys.

It's always fun to listen to them watching a pre-woke era film and racing to see who can be the most over the top offended.

This is unavailable on streaming services in my region.

Options available include getting a loose rental DVD for 16kr including postage, or a newly produced Vestron Video Collector's Series blu-ray containing a wealth of supplementary features for 160kr.

It's a weirdly difficult choice.
Is it worth it to pay ten times more than necessary for this movie?

This was a lot of fun to watch and great commentary as usual, but maybe throw up a content warning for homophobic slurs?

I'm glad they decided to do the horror-themed Film & 40s again this year. I thought Abby was completely fine on this, despite some of the other comments here.
