Quick Look: The Solitaire Conspiracy

This game seems like some people would absolutely love it, but I can't imagine ever laying a finger on this one.

Feels like you can't escape Greg these days, he's everywhere. At least he isn't shilling something for a change though I guess.

I will never see Greg Miller as anything but a shirtless drunk mess at GB E3 streams and the fact that he is everywhere is something I just do not understand because I don't find his personal brand particularly funny or entertaining.

I was so excited for this game before I found out I would have to listen to Greg for hours. I will still play it but im not happy.

I thought it wouldn't be a big deal but 5 minutes into this and Greg is somehow really jarring.. maybe cause they did nothing with his look? Not even changed the glasses or something. It's just.. Greg Miller.. right there.

EDIT: Also as someone that doesn't know how to play Solitaire I have no idea whats going on in this game.

I'm sure Greg is nice but I already need fewer games with generic looking white american guys talking at me, at least the skip button is nice and obvious

Is this better than Regency Solitaire? That game was amazing

I found his episode of Danswers...endearing? But the rest of him as a personality puts me off completely.

Love Greg and that he's in this but AMV'ing him is a little odd though since it seemed totally not fitting this game, would have been a better fit if he just did a voice for one of the characters in game or something.

I'm a sucker for Solitaire variants, especially with a veneer of gameplay on top of them, so I might have to try this out. Also I don't mind the cheeky Greg Miller FMV as much as everyone else seems to. The combination of ridiculousness, self-serious treatment of the setting and ridiculousness, and fourth wall breaking humor works for me.

Whyyy do devs think parallax is a good idea!? It adds literally nothing to the experience except motion sickness.

I was hoping for a more mechanically clever take on solitaire like Solitairica but I what I saw here wasn't super inspiring. Maybe it gets better later? But also there's just...so much talking...

This might the most worst solitaire I've ever played so far. No fun gimmicks or progression system like some other games, just another boring experience bar. And Greg Miller is a terrible actor, he's a fantastic presenter and that's the problem. He's presenting in this game rather than acting, which just doesn't work.

At least he isn't shilling for something, I guess. Greg is the most obnoxious "why is he fucking everywhere, he's awful" games industry guy for me in recent years after taking over for in that spot for Adam Sessler (though he still rates high.)

Sounds like maybe there will be a Switch version in the future... but I think I'll buy it now on Steam and hope that it runs in Proton on my Chromebook.

14 minutes into this QL and this game doesn't seem for me. Greg is fine but really lacks any and all integrity. He will just shill whatever without question. He's just a presenter and he's doing that here so it just comes across really weird. The game itself has nice production but that's about it. I'd rather just play regular ass solitaire.

Beat it in one sitting, about 2h playtime. The story gets a bit better as you go, the solitaire never really gets challenging however. The fact that you have infinite moves means you never really get stuck. For 10$ it's hard to complain, although I prefer Grey Alien's solitaire games.

Sure, let's combine Solitaire with the sincerity of a Ubisoft presentation.

I recommend folks check out the solitaire games from Grey Alien Games, Vinny mentioned Regency Solitaire, but I particularly like Shadowhand myself. It has a lot of cool RPG trappings including equipping gear and spells, and is fairly long and can actually get difficult at times (mainly with some of the 1 v. 1 duels). They have a newer game out called Ancient Enemy, but I have not checked it out myself as of yet.

I was trying to put into words what felt off about the performance, but I think you hit on it with the presenter vs. actor distinction.

Remember when Greg was a solid critic and not just another influencer?

Anyone else feel a little weird seeing Greg involved more in the game dev/press side of things given that he’s still a part of Kind of Funny? First the EA press conferences, now this. I don’t know. It can be rationalized, I’m sure. I’m sure he discloses he was involved with EA when or if he gives opinions on EA games. And I’m sure he’s not shilling this game on Kind of Funny content. But it still makes me feel weird about the guy.

Comments full of the typical contrarian garbage. This place has really attracted a type... As for the game, I finished it, it was fun and the videos made me smirk a few times, worth playing if you are interested in the genre (very simple, relaxing games).

Vinny's e-sports commentary is incredible.

I do wish they'd either created a stylised animated version of Greg, or made the images of the other characters more realistic - mixing the two is just odd. That said, Greg seems fine in it: he's been hired to play a similar role to his presenting roles so I get how weird it is, but it's no different to any other actor being typecast.

I don't think I knew the name Mike Bithell before this and had no idea what Abby was saying when she said it at the beginning.

I like Shenzhen Solitaire.

I find all versions of solitaire extremely boring and I think this presentation & concept is corny as heck. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself - please allow me to apologize for not aligning with your tastes.
