Unprofessional Fridays: UPF - 10/21/22

I'm sure it's 100x as much trouble for production but I really prefer UPF as a variety show-and-tell format. If the stream is 1 game and it's something not personally interesting for me or with real sour vibes like OW I don't really want to tune in.

The hyrule hustle was a really fun idea/stream but I definitely have always felt like UPF is the show that covers a lot of the games that fall through the cracks because of the variety.

@tamoor You could probably just put dampening rings on your current keyboard it costs like nothing and should dampen the noise.

Yeah, I think I'm with you on that. I enjoyed the Hyrule Hustle because that's a game I'm really into, but I haven't touched Overwatch in years and mostly had no idea what was happening during this stream. I'd rather see an Overwatch 2 Playdate separate from UPF, ideally.

@giantrobot24: @robosham: Big same. I pretty much only tune in for UPF, and this is not UPF to me, this is a Playdate.

(Also fuck giving Overwatch 2 any extra airtime, what a piss-poor launch and handling by one of the worst companies in the industry. To misquote Reggie; "Fuck 'em".)

Dang watching Jan's first Lucio match. Kid is a natural. Hope that he realizes later on that you can wedge on the space bar on the wall to go real fast.

Echoing most of the other comments here, I can't bear to watch 90 minutes of Overwatch these days. Would have preferred a couple other games/segments with a round or two of Overwatch alongside. Hyrule Hustle worked because of the metagame put around it, but I still would have preferred that as a separate thing with UPF being UPF.

No I don't think boycotting works but as others mentioned, more air time for this is not the answer to what's been happening.

I haven't played Overwatch since 2016, but I booted this up last week and it sure is a heck of a game.

I don't have a problem with Overwatch, and I will be playing OW2 when I get around to it. But at the same time, I understand the comments. I felt the same way with the Fortnite videos. "JOHN CENA!" "GOKU!" "AWESOME!"

But its called making money guys. It's business.

lol at the people crying because a video doesn't interest them, don't watch it then.

That said, Overwatch 2 has really surprised me with how much I am enjoying it. Taking out 1 tank and reducing the shields has really made the game play much better and be more fun for everyone.

EDIT: To actually help, its sounds like you want silent switches. If you want a new keyboard theres the Q series from Keychron that are nice and come prebuilt and have bluetooth, but if you want silent switches you'll have to acquire them and swap em out yourself, it's not that hard. They have weird names, I know, but so does every fucking product. Boba U4 Silents and Zeal Zilents for bumpy tactile switches or Sakurios, Bobagums and Gateron Silents for smooth linears. Swapping out a board of switches takes less than 30 min.

I enjoyed this UPF. All UPF means to me is multiple people doing something together, and this certainly was that

I certainly respect the opinions of the people who consider UPF to be a specific format, but as someone not religiously devoted to the segment I always thought of UPF as just a "whatever happens, shit happens" wind down for the week. I had a lot of fun watching Jan try to learn the ropes of the game on the fly, but that is from the perspective of someone who actually understands what's going on in the game.

It's not especially difficult to recognise and appreciate that the core gameplay of Overwatch 2 is a smart, compelling package with nips and tucks that make it a meaningfully different experience from Overwatch 1, while recognising that the UX elements that they changed surrounding that core range from mediocre to awful. Tamoor actually recently made a (Gamespot?) video about this very thing, and it's not like the UPF didn't literally start with them poohpoohing the battle pass lol

@bludgeonparagon: I get that for sure. "Unprofessional" really does imply a lack of format too. I think it's just maybe more noticeable to me as more giant bomb content has become a lot looser. I think a lot of the best UPF segments have come from the variety though. You probably can't do an entire stream of "donut create push".
