    Yes, I know this seems like a shock. But I'm wondering, has Sonic the Hedgehog have any good games worth playing?

    I've only played a couple of Sonic games and they can use some work, but I want to play the games that are worth playing.

    I've played Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Riders. Sonic Heroes was ok, the other two could use some work. Shadow the Hedgehog really can use some work.

    So if anyone can please recommend some good games please I appreciate it. It can be on the handhelds or the consoles.

    Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles.

    Don't bother with the rest. Saying "they could use some work" is a severe understatement.

    A lot of people will probably recommend Rush, Sonic Adventure, Colours and Generations.. but they're no better than the other recent ones, in my opinion. They're all still poorly designed, and merely range from poor to mediocre. Don't waste your time.

    The originals are ace. Sonic Adventure 2 still has some merit. Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations are good. Never play the game that came out on 360 and ps3 in 2006. It's one of the worst games ever.

    @punkxblaze: I know, I've seen some videos for it. I got excited it for it when it was going to come out but then I saw some reviews and some videos and I was kinda pissed.

    I just played Generations up to the 9th and last(?) level and what a useless piece of shit that is. Thank God I didn't buy that junk. There's so many things wrong with it that I get kind of worried when people say it's the best Sonic game in a long time.

    What about Sonic CD (in addition to what you've already said)? Also, while Colors could still use work, it at least showed that Sega was learning and going in the right direction with the series.

    @Video_Game_King: I was never a fan of CD. Metal Sonic and the cool intro/ending were good, but meh. It seemed to be designed to be a pinball table, more than a platformer.

    Colours and Generations were at least steps in the right direction, yeah. Just still far from actually being good.

    As a fan of the series since early childhood, I suppose my opinion might be a little biased.

    That said, I would recommend the usual Sonic 1 - 3&K. For something a little more modern, the Rush series as suggested above can be good fun, and both Colors and Generations are solid 3D outings. I personally thought Colors was better, but I definitely had fun with both titles.

    @WinterSnowblind:

    I still thought it was pretty cool. The time travel forced you to pay attention to the level design, and getting 100% is less involved than I once thought.

    Agreed on that, though, at least on Colors (I haven't even touched Generations).

    A.) Why did you bump such an old thread?

    B.) Seriously? You do realize that you're including games like 3D Blast and Shuffle in there, right?

    @saoakden:

    Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Knuckles for the Genesis.

    Sonic 1 and 2 for Master System/Game Gear.

    Sonic CD for Sega-CD or the HD remake for XBLA and PSN.

    The GBA Sonic games. I can't speak to the PSP and DS Sonic games.

    Those are the good Sonic games that I've played. I haven't played all of the newer Sonic games but, of the ones that I have played, there are parts I like and parts I don't like. But none have been 'good'.

    Ask Jeff or Ryan, I am sure they will give you some insight on Sonic's gams!! *trollface*

    Seriously though, I don't like any of the classic sonic games anymore, the bore and annoy me now, I prefer the modern Sonic games such as Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations, I hate Sonic Colors so damn much.

    After posting this I went and downloaded the iOS app. There is a significant delay between button input and on-screen action. Whew.

    Nostalgia is the only reason I mention the game, I suppose. (Isn't that the reason we mention any Sonic game?)

    Sonic Generations, the most diverse and consistent Sonic game out of all of them. Plus it is kept fresh throughout with the unlock system and the fantastic level design.

    I would say Sonic Adventure 2 but that is more for nostalgia (even though I really do love the game).

    And I can't recommend any other Sonic game as honestly I don't think they are worth playing (but I would recommend getting Sonic Generations which allows you to unlock the original Sonic the Hedgehog in it to try and if you like that level design/pacing then try soem of the others - I just honestly don't think it works anymore and compared to today's standards isn't very good).
