Namco officially announced Soul Calibur V at their "Level Up" press event currently being held in Dubai. We don't have any specifics right this second outside of a small shot of the logo to the left there and that it is coming in 2012, but we'll continue to update this post as more info comes through.

Aye, looking forward to seeing it at e3.

Cool. I've always kinda liked the Soul Calibur games.

Some of my friends and I just recently got back into Soul Calibur IV.  We could probably go for a fifth.

Never played 1 or 3, but I thought SC2 was great because of the quest mode or whatever it is called which gave it a bit more life in single player than a typical story mode where you just your way up a ladder. I also have SC4, but it's not that great. I liked that you could create your own character, but the character generator wasn't that deep. Most likely I won't pick up SC5. Seems like I've been buying only the SC that have equal numbers (2 and 4) so I guess SC6 would be my next game.

I am not sure if I am excited about this. I never managed to find a character I liked in SC or SC4 (the two I have played). I didn't play SC4 for long. Probably the least of any of the fighters that have come out for the current-gen consoles.

The game did have a great announcer though.

I probably enjoyed soul blade the most out of the entire series.

This is actually pretty funny.   I've been listening to  old bombcast episodes and the latest one i  listened to they just go off about how horrible they think SCIV is and how they don't like all the over sized  boobs.  Haha.   

I've always enjoyed the fighting engine in the Soul games, it's just everything else about them has been various flavors of weird. 

My body is ready for the increased bust size.

If they do guest characters, they should keep it a bit more believable then Star Wars.

Something about the quest mode with the hidden battles to get the soul edge version of their weapon was awesome and addicting at the time.

I now require/demand a comprehensive story mode(ala mk9) before I decide to continue loving SC in general. I do own EVERY SINGLE ONE, including Soul Edge arcade.And number 3 is  still the pinacle of the series. Oh if only I could travel back in time with today's visuals and magically bestow them upon developers of yore. 

I just hope that they don't go with the goofy guest characters this time around.  Vader, Yoda, and Starkiller were the worst part about SCIV. "

I saw the "recorded from a cell phone" version of the trailer this morning.  While I am excited for a new Soul Calibur, come on, don't waste my time with some guy in armor.  Show me Ivy's boobies! :-)
