The fifth installment in Namco's Soul series of weapon-based fighting games, Soulcalibur IV is the first to be released on seventh-generation consoles and the first online entry in the series. It's known for its use of Star Wars characters as guest fighters.
I think this game deserves a buy. There is plenty to do and master. It also serves as a great party game because not only does the fighting have a lot of depth for the hardcore but it is also pretty intuitive for the casual gamer.
For some reason I have a hard time renting games. I feel I should just buy it. I suppose it makes more sense to rent it, especially if you can simply beat it over the weekend. I guess I look at it as I may want to go back to it someday and wouldn't want to pay to rent it again or pay the price on top of the rental fee. I guess I'm cheap in a way even though I'd be forking out the cash upfront.
So far I have played this game more than any other console fighter since Street Fighter 2. I usually don't recommend buying fighting games, but if your any kind of fan of create-a-character, this is really a must own. With all due respect to the Giant Bombcast crew.
