Space Hulk: Deathwing has been in development for a while apparently. It's developed by Streum On Studio and being published by Focus Home Interactive. Can't remember hearing about it specifically amongst all the Warhammer projects(wanna say Vinnie talked about how many different games were in development/coming out in a beastcast)......until yesterday when I saw this fps footage:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCO0nWkKKsU

Apparently it's out for pc on Dec. 9th, and then on PS4 and Xbox 1 in the spring of 2017. Not sure if this is on anyone's radar but I thought it looked really good. Reminded me why I find the Warhammer 40K lore and sci-fantasy so damn crazy and entertaining. So who'll be playing this on pc come Dec. 9th? I'll probably be waiting for the console versions as my pc and really old graphics card wouldn't do it justice. Anyone excited?

I believe it'll have a co-op mode ala horde maybe. GB users please add any more info.

PS. Mods: couldn't find a game board, maybe move it for me?

Simple search in the wiki shows that Space Hulk: Deathwing is indeed already there.

This is the first game since Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine that I think legitimately looks interesting to me from the 40k universe. All the phone garbage, the wanna be MMO, and wanna be Diablo games just look bland and uninteresting. THQ be shuddered really killed the momentum that Relic had be gaining.

I don't know how long this will hold my interest for though as I still have a plethora of other games to play still.

I like how it looks (not just graphics wise) but they could really touch up the voice callouts :D

(also that's a real Chaosy looking sword he has there)

It looks pretty good but Vermintide taught me how much all the aspects around the gameplay (progression, loot, etc) matters to me for this kind of game to be worth a purchase (everything besides the basic gameplay in that game is awful). So wait and see for me.

I really hope that the progression/level up system is better than Vermintide. That was the thing that makes that game hard to sink tons of time into, the "randomness" of loot.

Yes, progression/loot/customization in multiplayer matters to me. This has none of that outside the singleplayer campaign, I think.

Looks like the single player is pretty barebones. All of the effort went into the level design and the gameplay. Though I was pretty hyped on the initial trailers, at this point I've downgraded the game to a "wait and see".

Looking forward to it, such a good setting for a shooter like this. Hopefully they make it feel tense not just action action action. Space Hulks are supposed to be intimidating relics.

It's exactly where I stand. Doesn't look like a title you wanna spend more then $30 if not even less. From the gameplay, it seems the SP, if you can actually call it that, is really the MP with bots as your team mates and from those gameplay videos it looks like the bots have really bad AI. Seems like a game you only play with friends.

From what I understand, the beta is an earlier build so I hope the developer improved some things for the released version.

Sum Stuff: 4 player co-op btw :-)), and $34 preorder on Steam, w/beta soon.

Anyway, any computer experts here at GB think a new ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1050 Ti OC Edition 4GB GDDR5 128-bit DL-DVI Graphic Card would be ok for SHD? I checked min specs but they don't have recommended yet on Steam.

This looks neat and I'm excited to see what appears to be a modern take on Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels.

I'm a big fan of the mid-tier stuff that comes out from publishers such as Focus and is developed by studios like Streum On, Cyanide, Spiders, et al... but, granted, I buy them when they hit $20. That helps temper the expectations a whole lot.

When it comes to 40k games there seems to be a noticeable split in how they are voice acted. One half are rammed with actors who sound VERY classically trained i.e. RADA / LAMDA style like this one (and the older pre mid-2000ish games), whilst the others have a transatlantic approach to voice casting with mostly US based VO artists giving their best shot at "posh" British, such as the Dawn of War games. I do prefer the former. They make me feel all fuzzy inside because it's so quaint and "public school Latin lessons" sounding. I also just really fancy Mark Strong, so there's that as well.

Saw the video on steam yesterday. Looks interesting, it hits the bare minimum of a 40k game that I wanted if it is a 4 player coop FPS campaign set in the 40k universe, no survival/horde mode, just give me a beginning, a quest marker, and an ending. Would be nice if there are fancy gear. Environment might get bland, but as long as I get to yell "brother!" over the voice chat that is in character but doesn't have to do with wrestling is a win for me.

Wonder how the character classes will work in coop, in the single player it seems like you play as a librarian, and in the video one of the AI seems to be a apothecary (with unlimited healing?).

Hopefully by that time the MP will still be alive. This really seems to be a game you should play with other people as apposed to bots.

@mordukai: If the game proves to have poor AI and campaign and is best played online I'll probably pass. I'm more of a SP kind of person. I skipped Vermintide for that same reason.

You might wanna skip that as well. From those gameplay videos it seems the npc AI is trash.

@mordukai: Ally AI is often trash in this sort of game, but if I can get through on my own I sometimes give these traditionally-online titles a shot. Time will tell.

I don't do Multiplayer, though at some point I may try. I won't judge the SP at this point, other than I'd get a bit bored with myself if all I said all day is 'We are the Death Angels' and 'We are being overwhelmed' Don't forget the occasional 'Brother so and so has fallen'....

I so desperately want to play shooter/action DoW 40000 game again. Miss Relic.

There's so much awesome in Warhammer 40000, its interesting that not many games manage to capture that and deliver good, lasting gameplay. Low budgets and suspect studios often grab the license as it seems to be sold off relatively cheap. Good thing Dawn of War 3 is inc, but nothing is guaranteed. Hope there's a Last Stand mode in DoW3, it might have, as it seems to focus more on heroes to supplement regular units now.

The only thing I need to know about this game is that it's the next game from the devs who made EYE: Divine Cybermancy.

I'd still wait for it to be under $20. Reading through the developer's FAQ thread on steam it sounds like a real barebone of a game, even more so on MP which I know you don't care about, but it seems to me this game has been designed to be played with friends.

Saw this last year as they were still showing off a few snippets and teasers. Looks good too me. I've played several "Space hulk" games and they never really had great A.I. It was how well you can operate in tight enclosed areas while commanding a small squad against an onslaught of Genestealers.

I'm interested in it but it seems like every time I looked at it the release date is different. Could just be me but I swear I saw it as having a release date in October and then November and now December... Anyway I'm gonna wait and see what the reaction is from other people before I buy it or tell any friends to pick it up and play with me. Seems like a pretty risky preorder in a time when every preorder is risky.
