    Splatterhouse

    Splatterhouse revisits Rick Taylor as he tries to rescue his girlfriend Jennifer from the evil clutches of Dr. West. In the process, he must battle against evil beings known as the "Corrupted" in bloody and brutal combat.

    From what I played at my buddy's house earlier today, I'm in fucking love.  Then again, I thoroughly enjoyed the old Splatterhouse games...as well as own the Wiki page for this...so I'm probably a little more than biased about it. 
     
    I'm so goddamn happy that they kept the visual damage to Rick that BottleRocket originally implemented in the game.  It just adds to the level of brutality in it all. 
     
    Mind you, you are basically just going to hit X and Y over and over in mashy ways while beating the shit out of stuff...and that's about it.  At the same time, I am personally thankful that they kept it a bit simplistic like that.  The style of the game is fucking tops, though.  Love the look, and the amount of blood is perfect! 
     
    UNFORTUNATELY, Namco has already set it up in my eyes that the game will be dropped to $40 rather quickly...if Enslaved is any kind of indication.  Therefore, I'm probably going to wait to buy it.  We'll see how long I can hold out, though.

    I gotta say I would probably agree with him, I know everyone has there opinions so new SH isn't always going to win out over GT5 but for me I always felt the Gran Turismo games were boring, But thats from a guy that never had enough patience to get through the boring shit in the game....  But yea I kind of think Gran Turismo is just a tad over appreciated by fans.

If you've ever read Roger Ebert's fantastic article on Transformers 2, he illustrates very well that while everyone is entitled to their opinion, not all opinions are created equal. One could suggest that almost anything in life is subjective if you want to believe that we are limited by what we are able to perceive. Even in the case of video games, there are some opinions that are just plain wrong.
     
    Saying that every opinion is created equal is pretty much like giving everyone in the class a gold star because they tried their best. I'm sorry, that's just not how things work. Some opinions are silly, stupid, and sometimes unquestionably wrong. Just because it is an opinion doesn't make it right. Saying "I found this game more fun than Gran Turismo" is an opinion that can't be refuted. He's accurately stating how he felt. You can't argue that. On the other hand, "Game X is better than Game Y" isn't just an opinion, it's stating a fact. 
     
    I'm not saying I agree or disagree with him, as I have played neither game. He could be wrong. He could be right. That doesn't mean his "opinion" is correct, just because he's stating fact, masquerading as opinion.

    You unlock the old ones as you play through the new one. You get the first one from beating level 2. I don't know exactly what other levels unlock what since I'm only on 3 but I'm pretty sure the rest come as you progress in the game. 
     
    As for the game itself, I freaking love it.

    From watching the quicklook, the game appealed to a lot of my old school brawler sensibilities. I think it was probably the high score thing and the 2d section especially. That was extra cool. 
     
    Also GT5 sucks and i like communism.

    I would doubt that it'll come out at all in Australia, I wouldn't call it suitable for a 15 year old so I think it's Banhammer time.
     
    Edit: While writing that I checked out some websites, and turns out it was granted MA-15 there, and it's out now! Wonder how much, if any, they had to censor it...

    @jakob187: Well this forum went off topic fast. I bought it full price almost exclusively because of the fact that it is a total single player centric game. And it's brutifically awesome, the fatality-esque move are presenting in an odd technicolor and are better for it. I love this game more than anything I've played since...  well since Darksiders and well I fairly enjoyed Enslaved quite a bit. But I digress, I may or may not have responded to you in another forum section in regards to this game directly to your person, ignore the other one if you feel the need to talk back.

    Yeah, was truly surprised by their score. Will most likely pick it up from a bargain bin some day anyway though.

    Fookin game rox, loving it!  No way is it a 4/10 game, solid 8/10 for me here.  Only thing I don't like about the game is the long ass load times in between deaths, other than that I love everything else about it.  Alot of fun and alot of unlockables.
