One of the best RPGs of all time.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a RPG based on the expanded universe of Star Wars. The game follows the story of a soldier who knows next to nothing about his/her past other than fighting for the Republic. The game opens with your ship being under attack by Sith Soldiers who are under the command of the game's antagonist, Darth Malak. As you continue on your adventure, you meet up with an interesting cast of characters that are willing to accompany you on your path towards finding out who you truly are in the world and what your purpose in which you ultimately become a Jedi.

The game has a very interesting combat system. You pick two squad mates to accompany on your missions and assignments and go about your way killing and talking your way through many planets and story archs. During fights you are able to pause the game and issue out commands to your squad members without pressure of getting attacked by enemies. Once your are done issuing commands, you can unpause the game and your members will perform the moves you selected towards their targeted enemies.

One of the biggest mechanics in this game is the branching conversations. During a conversation you have 4 things you can say to the person you are talking to. All of them range from the good, caring person to a ruthless, unremorseful person. Depending on what you say or do, you earn Light Side or Dark Side points. These points will ultimately change certain conversation branches or change your characters looks.

Another nice addition is the character creation when you start a new game. You are given a pre-set list of faces you can choose in both Male and Female catagories. You can also choose from 1 of 3 classes in the beginning and are able to branch out to 3 more when you become a Jedi later in the game.

Overall, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a fantastic game for those itching for some RPG action. Whether you are a Star Wars fan or just an RPG fan in general you will have a great time with this game. The game has enough content to keep you hooked for several days. Go out and grab it today, and may the force be with you.

The Force is Strong With this One 0

Knights of the Old Republic is an exciting romp through the Star Wars universe, with a fun combat system, a memorable story, and always something to do. It does have a few downfalls, however, which can be attributed to the genre more than anything else. But now that KOTOR wears the 20 dollar price tag, these annoyances can be overlooked to find a game that still holds up. The first four or five hours of the game are a little slow. While I won’t spoil any of the plot for people who have not pla...

      One of the greats 0

When Knights of the Old Republic was announced, it was like a dream come true for Star Wars fans AND RPG fans. The combination of the best North American RPG developer in Bioware and the Star Wars franchise seemed to good to be true. And the final product is not just good, but great. KOTOR is a dreamlike middle way mix of a typical american RPG like Bioware's own Baldur's Gate series and a japanese RPG like Final Fantasy, at least that's the way I see it. It has a streamlined, more personal a...
