First off, I'm not an AMAZING player.  However, I hold my own against folks.  With that out of the way:

I main with Cammy.  Why?  Because an all-melee character like her is very hard to master.  I'm not even close to mastering her yet.  It gives me a great sense of satisfaction whenever I win my rounds with her, because it means that I'm constantly learning.

As of late, I've been trying to get more matches in, so I've dropped down from 5 round match searches to 3 round match searches.  With this, I propose a question:  WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE IN 3 ROUND MATCH SEARCHES?

Dood, it's nothing but scrub Ryus, scrub Kens, scrub Akumas, scrub Sagats, and scrub Abels!!!  Not only are these folks easy to wipe the floor with and gain some BP, but it just surprises me that people are seriously THAT bad at the game.  I can't even count how many perfects I got today.

Meanwhile, in 5 round matches, I always find a good level of competition with a variety of characters.  Also, I never get a rage quit in 5 round matches.  While playing 3 rounders, I had 7 people rage quit on me in less than 30 minutes time.  Fuckin ridiculous.  Stay in the match, take your beating like a man, and let it be a lesson that you need to learn how to play before you jump online and expect that picking Ken or Ryu or Sagat or Akuma will automatically make you amazing at the game.  = D

I'm just astonished by the drop in skill level over how many rounds someone is willing to play.

Either way, here's my biggest frustration.  I understand the way the tiers affect BP and such.  However, explain this in ways that seem somehow comprehensive:

Ken wins against Cammy = 90 BP
Cammy wins against Ken = 30 BP

-_-  So when I beat a guy that should wipe the fucking floor with my character, given that I'm all mid-range and lunging/leaping/mobile attacks against a guy with Hurricane Kicks, Hadokens, and Shuryokens, why in the FUCK do I actually get less BP than he does?  I mean, I win 3 matches in a row, and then I just happen to face a pretty decent player that gets a lucky win off of me.  In turn, I have to suffer a massive BP hit because..............................................................................................

    ..............................................................................................................................................................................of tier listings?

I'm just a little stunned by this.  This is one of the reasons I seriously can't wait for Saturday, but even then, it makes me very weary about how balanced the GP and CP systems will be between characters in any way.

That's all.  Just needed to vent that shit.

P.S. (like literally, this is a post-script) - the Quick Match setup just cheeses me to no fucking end.  They need to get that shit fixed!

In over 1200 online matches I've never noticed a difference in the type of player between 3 and 5 round matches. I've played equal amounts of both. It must be just a coincidence that you're experiencing this.

    Really?

Man, I get in 3 round match setups, and it's nothing but Ryu, Ken, and Akuma.  I'm not even kidding.  In almost 14 matches today, I fought 11 Kens or Ryus.  Meanwhile, yesterday, I played nothing but 5 round match setups.  After 8 of those, I found that every single time...the character was DIFFERENT!

So I don't know.  Maybe Capcom feels they need to send scrubs my way for some reason (do I suck at the game or something and don't know it?  lol).  I'll take all the BP, though.  It's whatever.  I'll leave fighting REAL players to the player matches.

The BP isn't dependent on Tiers, it's dependent on the difference between your BP and your foes BP. If you have 2000 BP and you foe has only 100, your only going to get 1 0r 2 BP. The closer your are in BP count the more BP you will get for winning.

Hmm.  That's not the way it usually ends up happening to me, as I've fought characters within 200BP of me and it still happens.  The only thing I've even been able to think of that it could be would be tiers.  Maybe I just need to look into BP more, but honestly, it's not like it matters that much.

You ARE playing Street Fighter IV, right?  I guess the only thing I could be doing is stomping their ass into the ground.  That would be a logical explanation for rage quitting, right?  =  /

Actually, I have heard almost the exact same thing as I'm talking about from my co-worker Matt, who plays at home.  However, I've heard the same thing that MB is talking about from my buddies J.R. and Mike, who also play at home.  Therefore, I have no clue how to explain it.  I'm just saying that it's an incredibly weird coincidence.

Yea if someones rage quitting on you, your not doing anything wrong. I dont even see how anyone with the logicz can see that. That just means you are fucking their shit up and they start swearing so bad their mom gets angry and turns off their xbox.

Best thing I ever did during SF4: stop playing ranked matches. I've found that there are more higher skilled people playing player matches and you have less people quitting on you since there is no BP on the line.

One kid today had a mic on.  Never heard him swear once.  All I kept hearing was:

"oh my god.  AH, oh my god!  he's quick on that arrow.  AH!  man, my god."

I was almost questioning whether he was playing Street Fighter IV or getting off.

Forget being competitive in getting a bigger dick, I mean higher BP number; be competitive in getting good at the game. While the shoto scrubs can get boring, I;m glad they are there when Don't feel like playing my main and instead go for my alts. Or you can just go against the people in the GB community. I hear MB rocks a good gouken and lolultima's got a pretty bad ass akuma.

Ranked is useless, it's Player Matches all the time, all randoms or just close friends. I despise 3/5 round matches, they annoy me. The update coming I really don't care about either, but I'll give it a shot to see how it all works.

I just want better matchmaking, and lobbies with spectators. Cmon Capcom...

5 round matches seem ideal to me.  It's enough time to give you a round of seeing how someone plays.  After that, if you are a quick learner, then you can adjust your strategy thusly.  If not, then you'll get smoked and have to deal with it.

I don't understand how you pull off the marathon 7 round matches that you do!!!

I'm kind of starting to lose interest with the game, after coming off from SFIII and playing a game that is a step back. SFIV was fun at first now but I'm slowly backing away from the game. Hell,  I'm having more fun playing SFII HD than SFIV.

Maybe I will return to SFIV, I don't know.

Just to clarify, I mean 3 out of 5, meaning 5 rounds at the maximum what annoys me. I prefer a brisk 2 out of 3, only because I intend 10+ matches with any single person in player matches.

Kind of weird how Soul Calibur came out approximately half a year earlier (in US retail anyway) and still had "lobbies". Which were pretty fun by the way.

Why do some of you say rank is useless?  Is it because of the BP? Because when I put ranked for priority searches on Arcade and I put to search for people with a higher skill than mine I always find a challenge.  I also get skilled players when I search for the same thing except for Player Matches, though. I choose to do Ranked because of the points but I'll probably stop soon because it gets rather frustrating to keep on searching for a new opponent.

Matchmaking shouldn't involve creating a match, NO ONE should have to create a match hence it being "match-making." That being said, there's a serious problem if I get the same three people (even in custom search) despite choosing different skill level options, and having none of them be joinable for a mysterious reason.

Yeah, it would be great to have the quick search fixed but I doubt that'll happen with the upcoming update.  But if it does that would be wonderful and I'd also hope they'd fix the problem with the latency display.  Most of the time I can't see my opponent's connection bar.  Oh, and I'd also like a fix for the text on Trial Mode for SD TVs...

The 'quick match' system is a complete bummer. It took me literaly 20 mins to get into a game with that system the other week. All I got for ages was the same people and everytime I tried to join I got the unable to connect or if I did connect I got imediatly kicked. When I did finaly get a match the guy instantly picked Ken so I done what I do with Kens and picked Dan, the guy just kept jumping forward to me and hard-kicking and never blocked once. After 1 match of me toying with him (any of you guys done that? you know the guy's terrible so you soak up some damage, then get him low then humiliate with an ultra?).

I found that if I joined a match with my cowbow chicken icon and baddass title I got kicked more often then not but if I went in with a blank face I'd have more chance of actualy playing, anyone else find that?

You'd be surprised at how bad people can be at fighting games in general. I say this because I might be the worst of them all. Seriously, I can't even get past the first endurance fight in UMK3 without slamming the controller against my wall and turning off my Xbox.
