Basically, they missed out on a room; they needed to flick another one of those switches in the 'Gnome hole'.

In the room, you find scissors to cut the beard, which you feed to the robot to get the guy out of they way of the map.

You also find some antibacterial soap that you can attach to the extendable arm, which you use to get rid of the slime.

Now... I can sleep.

My mind is at ease now.
