The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Only the player, as the prophesied hero the Dovahkiin, can save the world from destruction.
Is anybody else arachnophobic?
Yeah I'm arachnophobic, but I always feel sort of bad when I kill them, which is problematic because I live in a country renowned for tiny 8 legged creatures that can kill you. At least in games I can get even with those bastards without irrational guilt trips.

This. Plus huge ones like that can't crawl under your desk and climb up your leg and oh god I need to check something...

I can't watch real spiders that are on TV or in movies. When I obviously know a spider is fake like in Skyrim or like Shelob in Lord Of The Rings I am fine. Kind of weird. I know.
Yeah, I'm totally arachnophobic. I'll be fine as long as I don't look at the eyes. Fuckin creepy spider eyes are the worst.
Yes I do not like spiders, at all. I do understand they are important to the circle of life but so help me if they touch me...

Same. It's like the Spider Uncanny Valley where it looks real at first glance but my brain can tell something's not quite right.
I really don't like bugs (I know, spiders not bugs, etc), in that I don't like them being near me and potentially crawling over me, not so much when I'm asleep as when I'm awake. I sometimes wonder whether my aversion to bugs is a phobia even though it's not really crippling. If the test of a phobia is whether the image of a bug on a screen causes me discomfort, then I am not arachnophobic.
Wow, that's a BIG spidey. For me though, nothing will compare to the HORROR of the Giant Spiders in Daggerfall. They looked nasty, sounded MUCH WORSE, and were VERY likely to paralyze your character and then slowly "eat" them until they were finally allowed to die. Oh, oh... and then there were the Giant Scorpions... eeauughhh... that NOISE they made. Same deal otherwise, though.
Now just imagine if Bethesda had the sadism to allow the spidey in Skyrim to string your character up in webs, hang them up somewhere, and then take their time eating them in a nasty but detailed third person animation!

I can just imagine swimming in the middle of the ocean (for some reason), and see this absolutely huge shadow towering up beneath you in the water. I swear I'd pass out from fear if that ever happened in real life, even if whales don't exactly eat or attack humans.
I don't typically play magic focused characters in TES games, but I am going to level destruction in skyrim for the sole purpose of wasting these monstrosities with copious amounts of fire.

You know what else would appear as a gigantic shadow beneath you AND bite you in half? Great whites. This is why sharks are far more terrifying than whales.
And orcas have been known to attack and kill humans.
@TobbRobb: Yeah, they really were the worst. Hairy, fast, crawling on every surface. Some big, some small. Extremely creepy locations too, of course. And those sounds. Yuck! One of the worst creepy-crawly sensations I've had in a game, ever. I barely made it past, and they kept coming back from time to time throughout the game. Sometimes just one spider lurking in a room you entered, hanging around, waiting. It kept me on my toes the whole fucking time, even when there was no indication of spider territory.
I hate spiders, they freak me right the fuck out. The times Ive read lotr Ive almost shit my pants during Shelob. I havnt seen the scenes with the Shelob in the movie. I got goosebumps when fighting the hairy fuckers in WoW. I read this thread with my hand over the screen as I knew someone would post spider images. I will learn myself to mod Skyrim in order to switch that motherfucking spider to basically anything.
I am phobic.
