The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Only the player, as the prophesied hero the Dovahkiin, can save the world from destruction.
Skyrim’s First Downloadable Content? Dawnguard
360 first. Seriously, fuck Bethesda. They have built one of my favourite games this generation and still manage to make me think that they're one of the worst publishers in the industry. My only real option was to get the PS3 version and they have worked as hard as possible to make me regret buying their game in the first place. I know Microsoft will have paid for early DLC and the kinect features but it still irks me that they seem content to piss on the PS3 version of the game and it's users.
Woooo! I´m ready for more Skyrim. Would want it on PC, but I don´t think I can wait any longer than a week or something.. plus, my highest lvl character is on xbox. Maybe they add some "true" high level stuff and really hard enemies! One can hope.

I wonder how substantial this will be.
Also, fuck this Bethesda/MS timed exclusive shit. As a PC gamer who saw how Bethesda basically sold PS3 gamers a crap ass bill of goods with the base game, if anything PS3 customers should be getting this early.
Bethesda has slowly risen to Capcom/EA/Activision levels of douchebaggery when it comes to how they treat their customer base.
When has the PS3 ever had a good open world game? Its a inferior system.
Depending on the definition, I'd say inFamous was pretty good, if not great.
Playing Skyrim right now. A guard in Riften said "Now that the Empire has a hold on Riften we have a clear shot towards Morrowind... just in case"

Did you play the shitty version of Skyrim? Well congrats, you get DLC first.
The shitty version of Skyrim is the PS3 unless that was just console hate.
I love my consoles.
Don't play Skyrim on a console.

Actually both console versions of Skyrim are pretty shitty really. Even the 360 version runs into lag and frame rate issues due to a lack of memory. That combined with the long load times kinda made the 360 version unplayable for me after spending so much time with the PC version. I'll probably play the DLC when it's released since it's coming to 360 first, but I'll probably have to start up a fresh game so I won't have to deal with the lag.

Infamous, Prototype, GTA4, Red Dead Redemption, Saint's Row the Third, the Assassin's Creed series, Farcry 2, The Saboteur, all games that ran fine on the PS3.
Bethesda has been dragging out the same bugged out, dated engine for their games since Morrowind, updating it on an iterative basis with a few bells and whistles to impress the eye candy masses while at the same time dragging it down by not addressing core issues.
I personally would never buy a Bethesda open world game on anything but the PC, at least then you have a chance that when the developers don't fix the problems, the user community usually will.
Excited to play some new Skyrim content...bummed that MS has it exclusive for a bit...oh well I'm still playing the main game with a second character!
Bad business decisions all around. Microsoft are not swaying any format decisions at this stage. I don't know if they did in the first place, given I bought (and platinumed in spite of the bugs) the PS3 version, and intend to get GotY PC version in a Steam sale at some point. Anyone who did not pick up Skyrim yet s probably waiting for a GotY edition or does not care.
I would appreciate my XBL Gold money going toward original titles instead of depriving other formats of timed DLCs for Skyrim and CoD, which I will not get on 360. I don't see this as Microsoft bringing something to XBL users for their money, I see it as Microsoft incoveniencing PSN and PC users... Two months left on the three month gold sub I bought on offer for £2, after letting it lapse for over a year, and I doubt I will be re-upping when it expires. I am becoming more and more disgusted at the ad-ridden 360 dash and what you get for the gold service. Steam, PSN and especially PSN+ are serving me significantly better than XBL right now.
I also think Bethesda builds up animosity from PC and PS3 users through this, and any marketing will either have to be done twice, or will only really impact with 360 users. They will actively lose some PC and PS3 revenue because of this.
More stuff for modders of the PC version to tinker with when it comes out way. You console guys don't know what you're missing!

I stopped because of the terrible framerate drops on the PS3, is it safe to go back now?
The PS3 is much much better now because of the patches. It's still a Bethesda game so it will have problems here and there, which the Xbox has also, but it is easily much more playable now!
I'll probably wait for a few DLC packs to come out and then reinstall and start a new character.
Drachcir the Dark Elf Conjurer-Archer's story is done.
If they add spears I'm in, otherwise I'll probably wait until a month before TES VI comes out like I did with Shivering Isles.
God damn i cannot wait for this. Skyrim was so amazing so i've been waiting for an excuse to go back.

That whole name together sounds like either a Werner Herzog movie or Capcom got ahold of the naming conventions.

After playing The Witcher 2, all this Skyrim stuff seems so quaint.
Yeah, I finished it about a week before it came out on the 360, and then I tried to play Skyrim. Wasn't happening.
They sure are making us wait a long time for this. It better be huge. I know they've said publicly that the DLC will be expansion pack in size, I'm just hoping it adds a substantial amount of content to the game. Assassins Creed games have been made in the time it's taken for this DLC to come out (joking... not really).
@seanfoster: I couldn't agree more. The Witcher 2 gave me everything I wanted from Skyrim. I could care less about a huge open world. I want characters that interesting and a story that keeps me playing till 6 in the morning. It doesn't hurt that the melee combat feels responsive and has some weight to the attacks.

All those games performed better on a 360 apart from infamous which was quite a small world anyway.

I think the PS3 version is still very broken. I have all versions in my house. My roommate plays the PS3 copy, and I watch her play pretty often. Anyways, after the latest patch on PS3 EVERYTIME, every single time she goes into any water the game freezes and requires her to shut off the system. I told her that starting over would probably fix it, since the save she was playing was still from release. She started over and the first time she jumps into the water (in whatever that first town is) the game crashes the system.
Before that update I honestly didn't see anything with the PS3 version that would make it unplayable, but now... I wouldn't even play it if that was my only choice. (Which thank god its not)
Anyways my two cents on the issue. Obviously the problem isn't that widespread or I would have heard about it elsewhere, but anyone assuming the PS3 version is all "fixed" up is sadly wrong :( I think they've backtracked.
I wonder where this is taking place? Atmora maybe? I still have lots to do in Skyrim so maybe I'll be done by the time this rolls out.
