The Hat Man is the eponymous antagonist in the game The Hat Man: Shadow Ward
He is based on the urban legends and testimonies of "shadow people", which have a wide variety of witness accounts and descriptions, often telling of different entities. The most conspicuous description of them is the tall one in a dark suit, wearing a hat.
The one consistent belief among those who have encountered him is this: he has come to take your soul.
Throughout the game, he will pursue the character if he spots them, and chase them until they either get away, escape the location, or he catches them. Although he cannot move through walls or ceilings, he is not bound by normal physical limitations, and will appear and disappear in his attempt to capture the player.
