I'm currently working in Bahrain and I want to get Ocarina and a 3DS. I'm wondering if the 3DS is region free (and otherwise the same thing I'd be buying in the States)? Also, would the game be the same as if I were buying it in the US? I'd be buying it in a Toy's R Us that has the best video game selection I've found out here, so the chances of anything being bootlegged are very low.

Alrighty thank you guys very much. Looks like I'll be waiting a few months! Sad but not the end of the world.

its region locked but sometimes they link regions together. in my case Australia and UK both work on same system so its worth checking the back of the box to see what countries are available.

You might be best to actually import a 3DS from the US or Europe, then import all your games as well, if getting a hold of them over there is going to be a problem. Otherwise, you'll just have to wait, as Nintendo wanted to put a stop to people importing.

The European Ocarina of Time box art is far better than the US one anyway :)

Depends on which one they're selling in Bahrain. There are only Japanese, American and European/Australian 3DS'. Ask which one they have.
