Overview
The Snatcher is a recurrent figure within the Subcon Forest, who will constantly harass Hat Kid and force her to sign several contracts. Being a shapeshifter grants him the ability to replicate the form of anyone he wishes, again to manipulate others. He steals Hat Kid's soul so he can force her to do any menial task he wishes, usually through his weird obsession with "contracts".
Before the events of the game, the Subcon Forest was a lush and peaceful place ruled by a Queen, and her daughter. The daughter was being courted by a Prince, whom she had an unhealthy obsession with. When the Princess became Queen her jealousy would boil over: One day, she spotted her Prince holding another woman's hand, where she'd proceed to imprison him in her dungeon 'till he died. The game alludes to how the Prince might have become the Snatcher after his death.
