Troll Patrol is a mix of the tile-matching and role-playing genre set in a fantasy world where heroes threaten the existance of a small Troll family. The user plays as one of the Trolls who goes on a patrol and fends of invading villagers, pillagers and heroes while looting treasures and gaining experience.
The game uses a 6x6 field where different tiles are positioned and can be collected by connecting them in a line. Coins give the Troll money which can lead to an item upgrade, shield tiles increase his armor and increase his loot value which might yield better equipment. Connecting swords with enemies deals them damage and ultimately kills them, granting the Troll experience which can lead to a level up where new skills can be learned. Potions heal the Troll if he ever gets damaged.
The goal of the game is to reach a higher and higher score, completing more waves of enemies and unlocking new equipment, enemies and powerups along the way. Gathered Fezes can be used to buy Tentacles which can be invested in your Troll's cave which grants permanent bonuses.
During the patrol the Troll can encounter various event cards which add another layer of strategy as they offer multiple options how to tackle the emerged situation which can grant helpful bonuses or lead to a catastrophic outcome.
