Unveloped was developed and published by start up company, Lazy Gaming and released on January 23rd, 2018. Developed started in late 2014 as Twelve Tales: Batkid, the title was changed in mid 2017 to avoid legal issues with Warner bros.
While under development as Twelve Tales, the original target release was Newgrounds (thought it was published under a profile by the name of capner). The original idea was a 2d top adventure RPG, later changed to a 2d platformer.
Prior to release to release on Steam, a tech demo video was uploaded to YouTube in June 2016. Then in summer 2017 with the launch of Lazy Gaming's website, Unveloped was then advertised on the site. In December 2017, a 40 second trailer was uploaded to YouTube.
