The USS Constitution is an American ship built for the United States Navy in 1794. In the Fallout universe, the ship was fitted with several rocket engines and electric wiring, allowing it to take flight. The frigate survived the nuclear apocalypse caused by the Great War and in Fallout 4 is crewed by a team of robots under the guidance of a sentry bot calling itself Ironsides, which found the wreckage moored atop the ruins of the Weatherby Savings & Loan. Ironsides, believing the war is still ongoing, is committed to returning the ship to the Atlantic Ocean to contribute to the war effort.
The Sole Survivor can help Ironsides repair the ship's systems, or assist a local group of scavengers in eliminating the crew and looting the ship. If the player helps Ironsides, the ship takes flight and crashes into the top of a skyscraper in downtown Boston. Ironsides can be heard declaring the flight a success, having taken the ship "a quarter fathom closer" to the Atlantic.
