Expect Some Zombie Activity on a Dead Island

I know trailers like this are mainly about building hype and these do a great job of it but if there isn't some sorta emotional resonance to the game and it's just a zombie hack and slash kill fest then all this hype is gonna backfire.

they should have just stuck with the first trailer until it's time to see gameplay

The trailers seem to have nothing to do with the actual gameplay, which is reportedly more dead rising / fallout mishmash than emotional rollercoaster. Just seems like the hack and slash, loot grabbing nature of the gameplay would be at odds with this somber tone

Yeah all I've seen so far are images(which look pretty good) and the trailer(yeah emotional but it looks ugly compared to the in game graphics.)

If this plays at least like Left 4 Dead then this would be good.

Can't wait to see gameplay.

Nothing about this game is going to be emotional or deep hahah. A man that has hung himself from a palm tree forms the "i" in the logo. It'll be weird if they actually try to make this game have any kind of emotional impact, because what they're actually showing really isn't conveying that at all. That's fine by me, it's just a weird way to advertise.

I love the music in these trailers.

The graphics look OK, but I really really want to see the gameplay now. It's hard to imagine how this game will manage a different take on the zombie / survival genre.

Zombies are so 1996.

I was so excited about this game, until I started to hear rumors that it's just a generic shooter with little in the way of story and almost nothing in the way of character development and that the initial trailer had pretty much nothing to do with the game, itself. I wanted so much for a character-driven story with lots of adventure and choices and emotion. I found the carnival level (where you're on the roller coaster) part of L4D2 so fucking frustrating (the other characters would just randomly fucking run around or get stuck or fall off the track and get you all killed) that I stopped playing it and never went back to it after that. Not even for multiplayer. This, however, could totally have piqued my interest.

You know, until it started to come out that it was just a brainless fuck'em-up. Hopefully that's just a bunch of clever misdirection and it's totally amazing. Not going to hold my breath, though.

I just realized that the team cranking out these Dead Island trailers is really better off working in the TV/film industry.

They should do PR media for the next Walking Dead series, if there is one. What a waste of talent on a currently generic looking game.

While to me it's damn obvious that this is pure marketing genius, and anyone who thinks this is going to blow everything out of the water has their head up their ass, I still think this has the chance to be damned cool so long as you disconnect yourself from these trailers.

I like zombies, action, and RPG. Let's hope they can put these things together in an awesome way.

I hope the game has this tone and is not a mindless zombie killing game.

Man, isn't it time for some gameplay?  I appreciate these emotional trailers, but this game's supposed to be out in a month or so.

I'm still unsure about this, but I hope it's good.

judging from the previews I'ved read, I doubt its going to match the somber mood of these trailers. Seems to be more of a First person view, Dead Rising

Am I the only one who finds it slightly more creepy that they are shying away from jump scares in the trailers. If they put in some jump scares that would be less creepy for me, but the soft piano, the slow motion shots of zombies, the little sound bites of normal people saying normal things, it all makes my skin crawl. I love it.

Some people already played this and they claim its good. Im not sure if it was just early build or something. We will have wait till E3.

Why is it so incredibly light/overexposed? Couldn't see jack shit. Looks muddy and shitty overall, but the game seems pretty good actually. Also hoping the version they've been pimping is the console one.

If it wasn't for the trailers, I wouldn't be interested in this game. But they're amazing.

@Toms115: The general purpose of a teaser is to generate interest, not provide information.

I'm thoroughly impressed with the makers of the trailers and of course, the trailers themselves.  Hopefully, they work on the game.  If not, I'll always have an unplayable trailer or two to like.  Just have to wait for the game reviews to see if its worth my money.  Hope they know that setting the bar high means they can fall as far and hard as the girl in the first trailer.

@Syphous: Yeah they said the whole point was to tell people "Hey we are still making this game!" they said they would release alot more gameplay at E3.They already  have 11 minute video on Gametrailers if you want to check it out.
