Really enjoyed 13's battle system. Enough to actually play through the entire game where I had almost zero interest in the story.

Didn't care for FF13's combat system, so - while not schocking - it isn't great news. Now that they have added QTEs to cut scenes... ugh... I don't like where things are headed.

I had no issues with FFXIII battle system, though adding QTEs isn't really my idea of "improvement." I just hope they let you use the full battle system from the beginning instead of spreading it across a bunch of tutorials over a number of hours like they did with FFXIII.

I kinda hope they would - I HAVE played FF games in the past..but that was like FF3/6 - and I have experience with JRPGs but I never played FFXIII and this is kinda grabbing my attention.

I know it's probably an awful idea to jump into XIII-2 without having played the original - I mostly read that even people who played it weren't exactly sure what the heck was going on in XIII

Thank god, QTEs. Just what this game needed to be better. Next they're going to announce that there are even more pointless cinematics with people gasping and sighing and being generally terrible characters.

Coming from someone who liked FF113, I really appreciate all the improvements they've shown so far. Only thing that's bumming me out is the awful character designs, even compared to FF13 which really isn't saying much.

When I played the demo it played almost exactly like FFXIII. There were two characters and a monster that changed based on my Paradigm. The map I was travelling in was very dull. Everything looked the same. Everything looks outlandish, but in that vague kinda boring modern JRPG way.

The Endurance Run inspired me to replay Chrono Trigger and damn, that game is so much more fun than modern JRPGs.

My sentiments exactly. FFXIII had my favorite JRPG style "turn based" battle system, but it took about 10 hours to actually gain access to the meat of it. Don't really care about the QTEs, but it won't take anything away from it for me.

I enjoyed FFXIII's battle system, but it seemed to really play the game for you with it's "pick the best moves for me" feature. The paradigm shifting is really your only input on the fights, so QTEs may actually make it more interactive.

The whole entire Final Fantasy series needs a shot of adrenaline right to the heart and watching that Chrono Trigger endurance run has made this more obvious than ever.

Can anyone on this earth do a 60 second elevator pitch for 13's story. I got ten hours in and I still don't have a clue what's going on.

I actively hated most of FF13s battle system.... along with most of other parts about it. I was pretty excited for it but man I never found myself beating a game while hating it so much almost the entire way through. I was seriously just going crazy about how much I hated the game the entire time.

I haven't liked modern rpgs in a while though, but even then this game was different in ways I simply could not stand. Man I hated FF13

@Phoenix87: So there are these gods called l'Cie and if they choose you you have to do this thing called a Focus and if you don't do it you become a Fal'Cie which is just a standard enemy you could fight in an FF game. If you do complete it then you become a crystal and live forever, except you're frozen as a crystal so it's kind of like being in a coma. It's a lose/lose situation. Everyone you play as is chosen to do a Focus and then other stuff happens and they all live happily ever after.

I really liked XIII's battle system, it just sucked that it took like 30 hours for them to fully introduce it to you. I'm guessing that probably won't be the case this time in XIII-2...

The battle system was the one thing I was hoping would not change much, since it was the best Final Fantasy battle system to date. (Which is not to say it was the best RPG battle system mind you.) If they just improve the other parts of the game this could be one of the better FF's.

And you still won't know till about chapter 11? I think? It gets better at that point at least.
