So what does MAG ACTUALLY stand for now? They keep naming it MAG, but it HAS to be a shortcut. And it's not Massive Action Game or some such if I'm not mistaken?

I though it of shorthand for a MAGazine of bullets ever since they changed it.

Agreed with the recent bombcast on this, you might find a squad that's willing to work together as a team but outside having a clan you will find it hard to see how the goals are progressed when everyone is running around shooting people without following orders, that or the idiot player running around blowing up everything.

I was actually suprised at how well people actually worked together as a team in this game when i played it. Zipper seemed to find a good way to incentivise  people into doing objectives. It works out pretty well.

@canucks23: plus it wont appeal to the dumbasses who just want to shoot peopl eseeing as this game puts it full weight on objective gametypes hell their team deathmatch doesn't even count in the faction leaderboards

Totally wish this was on Xbox too.  Arg! I love giant games like this (last one I played was Joint Operations on the PC, forever ago).

With 256 players the graphics will be sacrificed for a smooth gameplay.MAG is a new franchise so it will be hard to penetrate an already saturated fps game marked.Since we got a hoard of fps games coming out in 2009,and 2010 it is going to be a hard competition.MAG will fall behind the other fps shooter's.The only gimmick thing going for MAG is the 256 players,if they can pull it of remains to see.

Looks okay. I'm always skeptical when developers say "you can play it however you want: as a team, run and gun" etc., without clarifying how the game rewards each type of play -- Sure, you can play the game however the hell you want, you could buy the game and then go toss grenades in the corner, but that's not rewarded in the game's core mechanics.  I just think about Team Fortress 2's spy as a class that rewarded both team and lone-wolf play. It's a core mechanic built into the game so that multiple styles of play are rewarded. Can anyone who's been participating in the beta give me some idea how MAG's system works?

Meh, I want a big ass open field, 128 players on one side, 128 on the other, when the match begins everyone runs towards the middle going nuts spraying bullets around.

Great questions, Brad. I think some of my questions about this game were answered, even if I am still not very sure if I am going to enjoy playing it. I want to get into the beta and see.

The game certainly looks to be bringing across a great concept but I'm still very skeptical of how the whole teamwork idea will play out in reality. As was said on the Giant Bombcast, getting 128 people to work together in a co-ordinated fashion would be considered nothing short of a phenomenal achievement. Even in the individual squads I can't see this panning out either. With online gaming we have enough trouble just stopping people from quitting out of the games, let alone actually following orders and working as a whole alongside other players. Perhaps if players received a small amount of experience or some similar minor reward for following orders the whole teamwork aspect might mesh into things a little better. On the flip side we have another problem; although players are always ranking up for good in-game performance, a good soldier does not necessarily make a good leader, someone may be a crack shot with a sniper rifle but would have absolutely no idea how to organize an entire squad to quickly and efficiently complete an objective. I am very much aware that teamwork is the key in online games and if someone managed to create a game where teamwork was genuinely encouraged and you could have a huge group of players like this all working together than that'd be great, but my experience with online games has taught me that just won't happen and although we haven't seen the full game yet, at this stage it looks like players just aren't being given enough incentive to go out of their way to work as a team.

Obviously you havent played alot of shooters. If that were the case and you had 256 players spawning on a flat field, what you would have gotten is 98% of the players lying down and starting to snipe the other team with a sniper.
Just like everybody did in operation flashpoint, arma, operation flashpoint 2,Delta force 2.. etc etc etc
