Very unfortunate that this is a PS4 exclusive, since I know I'd love it. That being said, there seems to be a lot of Slasher games coming out: Summer Camp, Splatter Camp, Until Dawn and hell, even the Last Year project well exceeded it's modest gaol on kickstarter, so hopefully that'll make Slasher Horror B movie games more popular, and eventually maybe we'll get games like Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm street.

Looks fun. I like the idea of an interactive choose your own adventure style slasher flick.

@babychoochoo: She was. And between this and KH, I don't think video games like her very much. Sadly.

as fun as this looks, I don't think I could justify buying a QTE dependent game without D4 levels of personality. the interactivity is just not a big enough draw for me

Visually this looks really nice. Sorta just a choose-your-own-adventure book in video game form from the looks of things though.

So......I'm all for dumb horror film cliches, but does she have to be sexualised in a bathtub from the very start? There are good cliches and bad cliches and that's just kinda bothersome.

In any case, it seems somewhat interesting? I would hope that it does some more things to freshen up the gameplay over the course of he experience, but I like the idea of Scream: The Videogame.

Attractive girl doing something to get naked is a slasher cliche, slasher films are known to be sexualized in some manner, so why not? I guess? They could have just went with the drunk-horny college chick cliche that popularized the vhs slasher sin bin of the 80's. They just went with the naked = vulnerable cliche.

From what they chose to show me, this just doesn't seem interesting. There is a fine line between care and love for the genre you are mocking/homaging and 'throw all the cliches in, doesn't matter.'

@godlyawesomeguy: You see someone being "sexualised" (whatever that means) and I just see someone taking a bath. Funny how that works.

It's part of the slasher genre, which has a lot of dodgy aspects going for it. Hell, if we pay attention to how characters act in slashers, the whole genre pretty much becomes a constant reminder that some teenagers are very shallow and stupid, so you really shouldn't take this seriously.

I, along with many other slasher fans, watch these movies for the killers and killers alone. We just think they are cool.

If you want dumb cliche horror movies, you get dumb cliche horror movies. This includes dumb as a door knob dudebro jocks and attractive ladies doing fan service-y things, there's bound to be some sex in the woods as well.

2. What type of person stuns their attacker and doesn't finish them.

3. Oh, right...horror cliche

I'm all for dumb slasher stuff, but there's pieces in here that just make zero sense.

  • Why have Hayden looking at the wall, while in the tub, for people in the bathroom when she hears a noise?
  • We're supposed to believe that this guy recorded her on a film camera and then spliced the film onto his other movie while creeping around the house?

I guess I'm going to have to buy a PS Camera... D:

Is that the same cello music at the begining as the mob boss is playing in the first real mission from Hitman: Blood Money? I realize its a pretty famous piece of music, just sounds REALLY similar to to the Don's performance.....until you stick a needle in his neck to stop it that is :)

Sam needs to find some clothes, she might be able to run faster, if she wasn't so worried about the towel falling off.

@eggshell: They were probably talking about character wearing a towel throughout the whole demo, which I agree was stupid. Yes it's a trope, but it could have stopped with the bath, and then have her be half naked in the bath room. Having her run around in a towel is just dumb and silly.

Like Cabin in the Woods the tropes might be a setup for something smarter, but I doubt it. This truly just seems like the developer trying to faithfully recreate the feel of a teen slasher flick, which is fine.

I like the bit where they use the PlayStation Camera to track if your moving the controller, so you as the player actually have to keep still to hide. I'll bet the branching stuff works a lot like a Quantic Dream game where there are very few choices or quicktime failures that will get you killed, you just see slightly different versions of the sequence.

I am a huge fan of horror movies, especially slasher. They can be great for example Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. Even the original Halloween and Friday the 13th were great. So I'm going to hold out hope that this will be along those lines with some Saw thrown in for flavor. I would be perfectly happy with that. Also I feel like I'm going to love the don't move prompt, that seems like a smart way to bring tension. I do wonder how it will work without the Playstation Camera.

I'm not a horror game guy at all and I didn't really have any plans to play this. After watching this, I find I'm much more interested. Hopefully the motion stuff is optional, as I don't have a PS camera nor do I want to use the Six-Axis stuff. I may be more into the horror stuff if it's this kind of adventure game, story based style. Though, I've become more cynical about games lately and won't get my hopes up too much.
