Hasn't it been established (by one of the Subject 16 puzzles in ACII or Brotherhood) that Washington et al. were Templars? Or am I misremembering.

Historically speaking it would make total sense if they were.

I got bored of the AC series after brotherhood, I guess I just didn't like Ezio enough to care what happened to him after AC2. Playing the same period of history over and over again felt like a let down. I hope after AC3 they will go over the Napoleonic Wars and the Seven Years War and put in enough of a difference for me to care about the period. Like a different Assassin for each of those sections of time.

do gameplay trailers really need to be so cinematic? show me the UI, explain a new gameplay system, anything. better than nothing i guess.

No, what you have are bullets, and the hope that when your guns are empty I'm no longer be standing, because if I am you'll all be dead before you've reloaded.

Though by the time they reloaded in the revolutionary war he propably had time to have a reasonable meal, and read a quick book.

Also I'm willing to bet the people behind the templars are bears.

The bears are the secret to this whole series.

There's got to be an achievement/trophy for assassinating a bear.

@Extreme_Popcorn: Makes more sense to advertise to the American Market with this trailer. On the whole other markets couldn't care less which side he kills but Americans still have a fairly heavily revised view of that wars actual reasons events etc. Portraying the "Brave freedom fighters" that the Americans see as simply one side in a complex war driven by complex political events spanning worldwide wouldn't really appeal to the "Fuck yeah America" culture that still purveys so strongly in that Market. Its going to be more interesting to see wether the game strives to be faithful to historical accuracy, or panders after the simplified, revised and politicised history that has been popularised in American culture to this day.

Unfortunately its a lot less controversial in the only market that really cares about it to simply paint a basic black and white propaganda influenced picture of the past and sell that. So Far this trailer would indicate that Ubisoft has wussed out on the chance to take an interesting look at the real conflict and set the story of assassins within that setting and instead take the far less interesting path of pandering to common perceptions in the hopes of better sales or just out of laziness.

A shame but the game still looks awesome if a bit boring in its lack of story depth. Could change however never know.

A lot of deep opinions and assuming based on quick snippets of Pre-Alpha code... who knows where they will go with anything. The trailer did hint at going against both sides.

I'll be pissed if they wait around one at a time to attack you again. Also guns are far more prominent in this era. There is a lot that could go wrong, but so much that could go right.

I really hope the yearly released schedule doesn't ruin this game.

Feel like I need to pick up Revelations again despite feeling pretty burnt out on Ezio and his story.

Nevertheless this looks like a really good change of pace. If Brotherhood could peak my interest simply with an Assassin's Guild system then imagine what all the new mechanics, setting and story will do in this game.

Looking forward to it to say the least.

@OneManX: Fair point. Its all speculation at this point based on the content of this trailer. Any opinions strong or otherwise are reactions to the trailer and its tone rather than the game itself.

@Manatassi: I can't say I agree this looks like very uncomfortable territory for many I wouldn't be surprised if it caused an uproar

The way he went through the house was nifty too. Assuming that's not scripted it would make breaking line of sight pretty cool

I love how much faster killing dudes with the hidden blade seems to look, the running through a window climatically through a room then out the other side looked pretty awesome too. Cant wait to see what else this game has up it sleeve in the coming months, I for one am excited.

I hope the combat is improved, it's always felt boring and lackluster to me in the AC games.

Hmmm looks like some kind of USA TV prog. The frame rate is all over the place, watched via your mobile site. Gameplay looks amazing... But very disappointed with the video quality I hope it's just a encoding problem.

Well, it's coming to PC, so no, it doesn't look "too good". Devs should put their best foot forward.

And with the compression and quality of this video, I'm amazed you can tell if there is aliasing or not.

However, it is 60FPS, so yeah, its PC or rendered footage.

The framerate isn't inconsistent, there are bits from the teaser for this trailer that aren't in game that are locked at a lower framerate, the rest of the real gameplay is 60FPS. Might be that your mobile device was struggling if this is in fact 60fps here, it was elsewhere I believe.

60FPS = PC version. Don't make me regret my pre-order Ubisoft.

Aaaand of course they've produced content to be retailer/paid exclusive. I'll just try my best to ignore all that bullshit as usual.

The game looks great but I absolutely hate that voice over. Can't tell if it's the deliver or the writing, but it just feels off.

Only the PS3 and 360 versions are advertised in this trailer no mention of PC release.

It's effectively deceitfull marketing. Show a supperior version of the product that is not what is actually being sold/advertised to players. Thank god the mass market is gulible enough and everyone will just ignore this kind of slyminess eat it up and go oooh aaah this looks so pretty (when it won't look like that for them). Yes yes everyone does it all the time i know, i don't care, slimy marketing is still slimy marketing, just because eveyone is doing it doesn't make it excusable to me, if everyone started cutting out ending for DLC wouldn't make it any less shitty either :P

It was also meant partly as a positive comment, that while PC vesion has not been announced or advertised it is most likely still coming because they are using the PC footage here.

When they were doing all the quotes from the major reviewer sites, I pictured one from GB that just said "Yeah, it's alright,"

would've made me giggle. Also, I know it's a pre-alpha build, but some of those sound effects were terrible
