Watch Dogs Has a New Release Date, May 27

Nothing to do with being intellectual, just the game looked a lot less generic last time they showed it. This trailer just showed a lot of tropes we have seen a million times in gaming and I had hopes it might be something different. Serves me right for being an elitist arsehole I suppose...

This looks absolutely amazing.

So they finally expand ever so slightly on the overall narrative in a trailer, and now I have pretty much zero interest in this canned-looking garbage. I want to hit all the characters with my fists.

I appreciated that 'Woop woop, wop wop wop' in the end. Otherwise...eh. GTA with more combat-mechanics sounds potentially really fun, especially if it runs without any trouble, with dozens of people and vechiles on the screen at the same time. The story, however, didn't really do much for me. I have no problems watching an action movie with a really simple plot and cliched characters every now and then, but somehow it felt odd with this one.

Eh, guess one just has to wait 'till may.

There is video out there of the stealth. It's the far cry 3 kind though where you can run an outpost stealthely or run in guns blazing.

Uhhh the graphics DO look worse. Like someone said this one of the first "next gen" looking games we saw and now...man I don't know what happened. This has been a troubled dev cycle.

Graphically went from looking like a "next-gen" title to looking slightly better than a 360 game. Disappointed. Graphics isn't everything, but it's definitely part of setting the atmosphere.

I"m guessing this is footage of the PS3/360 version because otherwise holy shit that looks a lot worse than what they've showed before.

There is still a Wii U version! Neat-o! I've stopped getting Ubi-Soft games on my PC. I've been getting so many crashes because of U-Play. Not fun at all.

I'd say it makes you a great person.

Whatever, I'm still super excited. Give me an open world and enough toys to make it fun, I'll be happy.

First off, this game continues to look like a lot of fun, glad we'll be getting our hands on it soon.

Secondly, It's weird seeing everyone opinion of this game take a complete 180 since it was delayed. "story looks generic" "graphics look worse" "seems like just another shooter". You are all pessimistic motherfuckers.

I think that can be nice game. This year is good for gamers xD Can't wait for this.

I remember this looking way better visually when they first revealed it.

I'm a little more optimistic than most of what I'm seeing here, but I happened to see a piece on the game over at Polygon. Bryan C. went over and played for bout an hour and a half I think, his impressions were pretty positive, but I haven't followed him much. I don't know if his taste in games lines up with my own.

Having read a bunch of preview coverage over there, watched a video interview with the devs about the delay, they claim they were able to make just enough changes in gameplay and other things that the game is now, more or less, exactly what they were hoping for. Crecente said that in his admittedly short amount of time playing, things were nicely varied and he claimed to have a ton of fun.

Then I watched the trailer here, and, um, yeah, it's disappointing. But having seen the other stuff first, I'm still optimistic.

Yeah, story bits dropped here all sound very cliche, but that wasn't really the thing that drew me in the first place. Still looks pretty good, and I'm wondering now how the multiplayer aspect will work with this plot.

Definitely still getting this, but I'm kind of torn about which platform to get it on. No plans at all to buy a PS4 this year. I'm getting a new PC, but that won't be until around October. Will also be missing out on that hour's worth of content exclusive to the Sony consoles. I can get it on the PS3, but I'm also thinking that it's probably not the best platform to play it on. Gah.

Get back to me when the Wii U version launches because from the start that seemed like the version to play.

But that's the thing.

There's a reputation system in the game where the population grow to like or hate you based on your actions. So those "collateral damage" effects would probably earn you the displeasure of the populace.

Indeed, also my first thought! Not looking as "polished" as the very first reveal trailer, but looking way sharper than the last gameplay videos. Guess it's the PC version running on a pretty high resolution?

But i don't get why people hate so much on the revealed story/characters?
This is exactly what i was expecting: GTA in a somewhat futuristic setting, with a "hacker" protagonist
The revealed characters exactly fit that bill, some of that stuff from the trailer, i consider pretty witty/funny.

Could have held up on revealing too much of that pretty cheesy story so soon tho. Might have worked as a better surprise if people just experience the cheese for themselves, at least if it's delivered in a competent way.

This is gonna eventually get pushed to fall.

Soooo everytime he turns off ALL electricity in Chicago he potentially kills hundreds of patients in hospitals, is the course of car crashes, he kills cops because all cops are "crooked" apperently... And we're supposed to root for the guy?

I chalk it up to stealth not playing very well in a short trailer, especially one marketed to a wide audience. Even the Assassin's Creed trailers skew combat-heavy, and combat plays even less a role in that game than I assume it would in this one.

Releasing on so many platforms plus open world game equals that is some hard ass programming to program, yo.

Bet they're in the Red Dead Redemption "horses halfway in the ground vibrating" mode as we speak.

It's in fact, Batman: Arkham True Origin this time (title to be renamed shortly before release I guess). And in a shocking turn of event we will discover that the Joker was the ennemy since the beginning!

Story looks serviceable. So long as it's as action-packed and fun as the trailers have lead to believe, I have little trouble believing this is a good game.

We already knew about the story: it will be dumb. Just play the super fun game and do not think about any of the characters or plot for a second, cause it's soooooooooo dumb.

Even Hugh Jackman in Swordfish while looking incredibly well build and hot (somewhat plausible), still didn't run around being some super ninja cop.

Hmmm. Well I'm still excited. But not like I was back when new consoles were right around the corner. This was THE game that would have first gone into my shinny new system. Delay knocked the wind out of my hype sails. Hope the delay was worth it.

Looks like dead daughter, evil old man controlling the city, his first henchman controlling an army and a secret underground rebellion that mostly sits in front of computers.

I still may be getting it. Maybe it's going to be a semi-competent stealth game?
