Having actually played guitar, what has me worried is the concept of reading tablature in real-time, and also reading tabs sideways.  Granted, I was never great at playing guitar, but even if you're good, learning a song requires practice, and I don't see how that translates to the rhythm game environment. 
 
At the same time, since it is "Pro", perhaps considered a large step up from Expert, it's probably reasonable to assume that learning a song takes more practice than normal, in the same way Expert songs in Guitar Hero and Rock Band require practice to even complete without failing.

Yeah, I have a yearly sub but I haven't been able to catch a Happy Hour live yet.  Friday evening is busy time.

OMG.  I had no idea how hard it is to play a real guitar.  I mean it looked hard to begin with but that Rock Band 3 demo is unbelievable.

Damn, Vinny is pretty good at guitar. 

The pro stuff, particularly the guitar, looks hard as shit.  So is learning an instrument.  I'm wondering if Rock Band 3 will ultimately fail because people will inevitably find that out and be pretty disappointed.  But if you're semi-adept at playing guitar or piano, the thought of doing it within the context of an AI band is super enticing.  I played guitar for several years and was never good enough to start a band or whatever so I ended up just playing along with songs on my CD player.  This seems like that on steroids.  Could be cool.

None of the Rock Band 3 encore is in this? That was the best bit. The Whiskey Media crew's versions of Combat Baby, Bohemian Rhapsody and Freebird were fantastic.

So the drums were the loud thing in rock band before. now the guitar is going to make it sound like every song has a washboard in it!!
