Leeds United Association Football Club was formed on 31 October 1919. Elland Road was assigned as their home stadium. One year later they were elected for the Football League Championship - second tier in the United Kingdom. The club has been very successful in the next 40 years and even managed to get to First Division.
During the 80s, the football managing was tossed between former club members and so the performance of the team began to go down. However, the club continued with the hard work and despite the managers' problems, they got to the League Club finals in 1996 and finished on 13th place.
