    Overview

Through the Looking Glass was the first game ever released for the Apple Macintosh. It was developed by Apple's Steve Capps, originally for the Apple Lisa under the name Alice. Originally a member of Lisa's printing team, Capps transferred to the Macintosh team after the Lisa's release and began work on porting the game. The game was renamed to Through the Looking Glass, as there was an existing database program named Alice.

Steve Jobs insisted that Apple publish the game themselves, rather than through a third party publisher. Apple published the game in 1984, but it did not receive the marketing push that Jobs had promised as Apple was trying to make the Mac look like a serious computer.
