Overview
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice (known in Japan as Sonic Toon: Fire & Ice) is a 2.5D side-scrolling platformer developed by Sanzaru and published by Sega for the Nintendo 3DS on September 27, 2016 in North America, on September 30, 2016 in Europe, and on October 27, 2016 in Japan.
It is the sequel to the 2014 game Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal and is the fourth and final game adaptation of the Sonic Boom animated series (itself a spin-off of the Sonic the Hedgehog game series).
This game follows Sonic the Hedgehog and his five companions (Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Sticks) as they work together to foil the plans of Dr. Eggman (who have begun mining a newly-discovered element known as Ragnium) and Eggman mining robot D-Fekt (who uses his malfunctioning magnetic powers to become more powerful).
Like Shattered Crystal, players can switch between each of the five heroes, each with their own special abilities. New to the game is the ability to manipulate fire and ice elements for the heroes' advantage.
