    Overview

Coregrounds is a multiplayer tower defense game, or rather: a tower defense arena. It's a competitive online game for two players, who meet in matches of an average length of 15 minutes. For each match, players draft their units and abilities and gain coins to unlock more units for future matches. Apart from units and abilities, players can also unlock modifications and eye candy with the gold they've earned by playing the game.

    New Tower Defense Mechanics

Coregrounds infuses the tower defense genre with several new mechanics: towers for example aren't stationary, but can be moved. Also, they can only be built once on the battlefield.

Previous multiplayer tower defense games relied on sending creeps to the opponent for more income as the only kind of interaction between players. Coregrounds pits both players against each other on the same battlefield, which leads to more action as well as a lot more tactical diversity and depth.

    Game Modes

Players can play against an AI for practice. There are two matchmaking modes: Casual and Ranked. There also are private matches: by sharing a private match code, friends can play together in casual or randomized matches; in randomized matches players the draft phase is automated and units are picked at random.
