    Overview

    When the Darkness Comes is a walking simulator whose tale tries to illustrate the hardships of depression and anxiety.

    Taking around an hour to complete the first playthrough, When The Darkness Comes emulates glitchy abstract dreams and horrific atmospheres. The narrator initially makes it feel like a comedy where the player is invited to leave, but it quickly starts to take a darker tone as the player dives deep down into a bizarre and broken path that explores the darkest themes of the human mind - the fear of existence and loss of meaning.

    The game is a tale of little hope and great darkness.

    Release

    The game was released for free on itch.io on the 12th of January 2019, and is playable here. A newer version is also available on Steam here.

    The developer has since then updated the game with several bugfixes, story changes and easter eggs.
