Nintendo has spent the last hardware generation with underpowered gaming systems between the Wii and DS. With the announcment of Project Cafe rumors suggest that Nintendo is focusing more on graphics and power with their system. If there is a focus on graphics they are going to need to prove the systems capabilities right out the of the gate. I believe there is no better developer to put trust in accomplishing this more than Retro Studios.

 Retro has developed some of the finest looking and playing games for both the Wii and Gamecube. They have primarily made Metroid games with the Prime series, and many would assume they would continue the series on the new system. I would prefer to see their next game be entirely original, and they have shown they could do more than Metroid games after releasing Donkey Kong Country Returns in 2010. Although I wouldn't neccessarily be dissapointed with a new Metroid.

I've read a rumor somewhere that it is a sequel to Donkey Kong which I wouldn't mind, but there is no evidence.

I'm always excited about the possibility of new IP's, but I think as far as established franchises go, here are the launch titles I'd like to see:

F-Zero

Star Fox

Some kind of Mario/Wario platformer, be it 2D or 3D

A revamped, revitalized Animal Crossing

There's rumours that Pikmin 3 will be a launch title, which would be cool. It would be great if Retro could do another Donkey Kong game for launch. Expecting something that is more proof of concept for the new system though.

I have no idea, but if I get a crap version of Super Mario 64 again I'm burning it.

I like the idea of a F-Zero game or maybe Mario Kart HD.  Some of it is going to depend on what that in-controller screen is for.  How much functionality it has.  EA's Madden would be kind of cool for split screen multiplayer since you could pick your plays off the mini-screen.  I think that was done in the Gamecube a while back.

There's no way Nomura would make KHDDD exclusive for the 3DS if he wasn't planning on making the next game for Nintendo.
