now im really hating NOA for such a poor marketing strategy... they had a chance to sell something besides that generic white color that is starting to grate my nerves, especially when there are a LOT better colors to use than just one... Nintendo, you lose out for that.

It'll sell here, they just don't feel like announcing it yet. If they announce too far ahead that they're selling a black Wii, surely some people are going to put off buying one until it comes. It'll come.

Kinda like how Sony doesn't want to sell the White PlayStation 3 in the U.S. but I think Nintendo would actually have a large amount of people who would actually want to buy a black Wii (me included). I don't see why not since they have so many damn DS Lite colors that they released here.

Just wait until the sales slow...

I figure Nintendo realizes that not having a Black Wii in the USA isn't going to hurt their sales that much. So they don't feel any need to spend the money to bring it over.

A case-mod to any colour or shade is inexpensive and easy. :)

They need to make special edition versions, decorated nicely in the games that matter on release.  It works for the DS and it would work the Wii.  A Super Mario Galaxy 2 Wii would be awesome, as would a Metroid: The Other M Wii.  It is just a goodmarketing exercise and I am sure that they have the production capacity now.

I'm sure it'll get into non Japanese territories eventually, but right now, there is no need. The thing is still selling well. Special edition consoles are usually brought out as an attempt to increase dwindling sales.

Well they're sorta doing it in Japan with MH3 since the black Wii debuts with that, and bundles. But yeah it could use some such in the West too.

Plus, more than likely if this was sold in the US someone would play a race card on it because it's black.

Japan always gets the color releases before North America, and I'm sure before they've said (blank) in different colors won't be coming to America.

Yeah, maybe for now. I suspect a possible special edition release for the holidays. Albeit, I already have a Nintendo Wii, this model looks slick and has a shine to it.

I see it as marketing strategy. They want to see if they can get the rest of those Maybes in Japan who haven't bought one yet, to buy this Wii. And if it doesn't sell well over there, it probably won't come to the US.

After all, the worst thing Nintendo can do right now is over supply...

I no longer have my Wii, but if they decided to release a black one here in the U.S., I'd buy it for sure. Shame they released a statement like that.

I HATE that Nintendo continues to deny the US color variety in it's console offerings.  I mean sure they come around to it but significant is this really to Japan that is has to stay there?

There's no point in announcing the colors before they're actually here as it will only serve to slow down the current sales. It'll come.

If they did have different colored Wii, I would totally buy one.

I just want a set of nice controllers to go with my nice  black samsung TV, DS, Razer keyboard + Mouse and various other things. Nice and slick.

I want a black one because my Wii is the only console in my unit thats not black. It looks weird.
