In Rage, the wingstick is basically a deadly tri-boomerang. The user throws it, it flies toward the target, and (if it doesn't get destroyed on impact), it flies back to the user, who can catch it and reuse it. If thrown at an enemy's head it can cut clean through his/her throat, beheading the unlucky person. The wingstick is a craftable item, meaning that the player can make more at any time, assuming there are sufficient materials available.
The wingstick can be upgraded as well. Later in the game schematics can be found that allow the player to create advanced wingsticks that can hit multiple targets before returning. These can also be crafted in the field, but require more materials to be made.
Also appears as a cosmetic item for the Engineer in Team Fortress 2.
