So like a year ago I got the red ring of death. I called Microsoft and they told me that they would send in the box and stuff and when I got my Xbox back it would have a brand new 2 year warranty. Well naturally I thought Microsoft was the coolest company out there. So anyway a year went by and my 360 was doing fine, but after awhile it started to get really loud, then it blew up the other day. I called Microsoft and they told me that the new Xbox they sent me never had any warranty and the only way they would fix it was if I sent them 100 dollars. Has this happened to any one else or what?

The Xbox 360 is the second game console produced by Microsoft Corporation and is the successor to the original Xbox.
Screwed over by Microsoft!
Damn dude, that's sucks, although I recommend getting an actual warranty. For my 360 I got at best buy I have a 4 year warranty, so whenever I red ring (which I haven't yet) I just drive there and exchange it for a new one, and bring it home and start playing.
"Shit like this is the main reason I got a PS3 with a 5 year full warranty.This.MS= Good at networking + throwing money at devsSony = Good at making hardware that doesn't epic fail."
First off I dont believe they told you it would have a 2 year warrenty the rule has all ways been the system would have a 1 year warrenty, a 3 year warrenty if it rrods on you. its all ways been 100 or less.
my 360 broke it was out of its 1 year warrenty i complained and it cost me 49 dollars to get it fixed it took a week and 2 days to get it fixed and sent back to me, my 360 now has a 1 year warrenty and if it rrods on me they will replace it any time between now and 3 years.
for a while now if you register your 360 on xbox.com it will tell you your warrenty status.
"Well there is a slight chance that they made an error with that, the same thing happened to me and they eventually found the warranty and gave a refund."I think that they almost have to cover you if you are still in the 3 year limit of your first xbox360. It doesn't matter if they sent you the shell of one that was made in 2005, that is their problem, not yours.
"Gizmo said:Seriously, combined I had just under 10 of those damn consoles. TEN. I'm not saying that excuses microsoft, but I think people tend to lose perspective on the fact that a lot of consoles over the years have had high failure rates.Did you ever own a PS1 or PS2?"Sony = Good at making hardware that doesn't epic fail.
in australia we dont have best buy
but my 360 red ringed TWICE lol so last time i sent i t over there wihitch was like halfway thru last year they sent it back with another 1 year warranty
oh and i only have to wait less then 2 weeks for it to come back
for some reason it takes them longet to send the box then it is for them to fix it and send it back lol
