    Weird Dashboard Glitch?

Since this morning, the dashboard upon booting my Xbox 360 has been behaving strangely. It won't roll out any panes other than the first one for each section (i.e. the Friends section only shows the 1st alphabetical result but no one else).

If I hit the Home button, I can see the rest unfurl in the background, but pressing Home again immediately retracts the other panes and then it enters a non-stop downward scroll until I press Up on the left thumbstick. Also, no other button works on the Dashboard other than Home.

What on Earth happened? I don't really want to do it, but should I clear my system cache?

It sounds like you may have to clear it.

Ya I don't know what happened but I would start by clearing my cash. If that doesn't work, 1-800-4MY-XBOX

The weird thing is, the Microsoft page that gave me the cache clearing code says to call the support # before trying a cache clear. Wha?

[Update @ 10pm]  ...it seems to have gone away, although I haven't done anything. Very strange.

By the way, it's spelled 'cache'.
Yes, that seemed like a pretty weird glitch.

Interesting glitch, I've never heard of anything like that before.

Hopefully it'll remain a funny tale for the future, and not something that pops up again.

It happened again, and I figured it out after giving Xbox Support massive grief during their inability to help me. To be fair, the lady I spoke with tried very hard and I certainly don't blame her.

    Here's how I fixed it:

    • Cleared system cache
    • Unplugged all peripherals
    • Cleared system cache again
    • Reseated hard drive
    • Cleared system cache a 3rd time

That is ridiculous, and clearly an indicator that my priorities are messed up (I should have just thrown all of this out and fired up my PlayStation 3). Hope this helps someone else if it happens to them.

Probably just a glitch relating to Xbox LIVE (since it gets stuff online of course to fill in certain parts).

Hmm I don't think so, since I cleared the cache which wiped out all of my game patches. That driver thingy above seemed to do it, I've had no problems since.
