I've been rooting for Infinity since it was rumored a while back. "X8" ironically is what I tend to put after my username if regular TurtleBird isn't available. (I used to use 95, as I did with my GB account)

Wait, isn't X8 just Microsoft's term for Xbox gaming on Windows 8?

Or they just meant to type something related to Windows 8? I don't know. There's a screenshot of Windows 8 there. Might be X86, like someone pointed out?

8 doesn't seem to be catching on for Microsoft, maybe they should cut their losses, also this console is going to live through the 9 and 10 versions of the Microsoft ecosystem, it would be shortsighted to tie a product like this to what will very soon be an ancient memory.

I'm really skeptical that the name of the next xbox would be revealed in how-to web pages. There's just no reason for Microsoft to have any information on how to use the next system out there almost a year ahead of when we all suspect the next system is going to come out.

They should just call it the Microsoft Entertainment System.

Seems fine to me. Microsoft Xbox Infinity is a bit of a mouthful but just Infinity seems fine.

Yeah, I'm guessing this may just be a misunderstanding. Looking at the information on the page, the 8X phone would make more sense.

1. The whole "playing Xbox games on Windows 8" has been something that was known since back in January as part of Microsoft's "Play" strategy. I wouldn't be surprised if part of the new Xbox would involve backward compatibility for your Xbox games with PC via your Live profile (much like GFWL, except hopefully nowhere near as shitty).

2. X8 is a stupid name, but at the same time, it makes complete sense if they plan on a larger cross-setup between Windows 8 and Xbox. I mean, that was kind of the whole point with the design of Windows 8, right? Unfortunately, I just don't think that it has any type of brand appeal, as it drops the Xbox name from it. X8 sounds like some dumb futuristic thing that turns out to fail more than succeed. They will have Xbox somewhere in the name. Guarantee it.
