Sony Online Entertainment Responds to DC Universe Online's PSN Downtime

A "make good" package is being worked on, while Sony works to repair PSN.

Superman is pretty bummed right now, guys.

Since PlayStation Network is down, there are some games rendered completely unplayable, notably Sony Online Entertainment's DC Universe Online and Free Realms. Both are online-only games, which means the lack of PSN puts a whole world of hurt on anyone's ability to grind towards saving the world.

SOE sent an apologetic note to all players last night, which it passed onto me this afternoon:

"We apologize for any inconvenience players may have experienced as a result of the recent service interruption," said the company. "As a global leader in online gaming, SOE is committed to delivering stable and entertaining games for players of all ages. To thank players for their patience, we will be hosting special events this weekend across our game portfolio, including a Double Station Cash day on Saturday, April 30th. We are also working on a 'make good' plan for players of the PS3 versions of DC Universe Online and Free Realms. Details will be available soon on the individual game websites and forums. "

Whenever that "make good" plan is figured out, I'll make sure to pass on the details. For now, we wait.

They better have a "make good" week planned. Eventhough, I have a 360 as well, I have been wanting to play online with my P3 all week. I think that the damage done by this event is going to be bigger than Sony expects.

Let's not get confused, SOE is gonna have a make good for it's people paying for DCUO and playing Free Realms...regular old PSN users like me who, oh, I don't know, HAVE BEEN DESPERATE TO LINK MY PS3 COPY OF PORTAL 2 TO MY STEAM ACCOUNT SO I COULD PLAY ON MY PC, they ain't gonna have shit for us, particularly considering that the Supreme Court was all like " yo big business should be able to block class-action lawsuits," something I bet Sony will be happy to invoke.

What are they gonna do for all the people who play multiplayer exclusively on psn. I'm not one but almost everyone I know that only owns a PS3 is playing Black Ops or MAG. They aren't going to be impressed by a free copy of Joe Danger.

I actually just bought DCUO for PS3 two weeks ago, and I enjoy it (even if it's my first MMO, and therefore not much of a statement). I can't wait until PSN goes back up...

I find this article amusing because it seriously suggests that people are still actually playing DC Online, much less on the PS3.

I hadn't really thought about the plight of DC Universe in all of this. I've experienced unexpected MMO separation, and it can be rough!

 Just tell everybody waiting for Superman
That they should change their passwords as fast as they can
He hasn't dropped you, forgot you, or anything
It's just too heavy for Superman to hack

Whats up with not posting Source Links.  For where this site came from in my book that is a serious no-no. :P  Not like Giant Bomb finds all these scoops on their own, they should publish their sources and via sources if they found stuff elsewhere.

SOE is a department of Sony that develops and publishes games. They have nothing to do with PSN, and most of their games are PC titles.

I just bought DC Universe for PS3, its been months since I have played my PS3, I have been on xbox live. A gamestop employee told me about the free games so I decided to buy a game and log on.  Before I open my copy of DC Universe, is it a playable game as of right now?  The network store is still being worked on so I am not sure if I can even play my game and if I am unable to, then I will return it and turn my playstation back off for the next year.
