    Dirt 3 is the latest installment in Codemasters' long-running Colin McRae Rally franchise. The game returns to the series' rally roots with dynamic weather, a career focusing on team-based racing, as well as introducing the freestyle event: Gymkhana.

    So apparently I'm not worthy for Dirt 3

    I recently found out the Dirt 3 is available for pre-purchase through Steam.
    I quickly opened Steam, eager to give Codemasters my money in exchange for some Dirt 3 goodness, only I find that Dirt 3 is no where to be found.

    I'm from Israel and it seems that GFWL is unsupported here, which is I guess the reason why I can't see Dirt 3 on the Steam store. The funny thing is that I own several GFWL titles and they all work fine. Not only that, most of them are from Steam, and not only that, one of them is Dirt 2!Dirt 2 works flawlessly including multiplayer and achievements.

    So why I'm not allowed to buy Dirt 3 is beyond me. What I'm interested to know is whether I get it from any other place, will all of the GFWL features still work? Is anyone from a country not recognized by GFWL as worthy to its glory ever had problems running GFWL titles that are not available for them on Steam? Bulletstorm is a released title that is also unavailable to me for example. Anyone bought it retail because it was not available on Steam and had any problems with it?

    I'm guesssing the GFWL is Games For Windows Live
    Have you tried downloading it from Direct2Drive? Or switching you steam region?

    The Steam region option seems to only determine the server location from which downloads are done.

    Asking someone to gift it to me could work, but isn't it against Steam rules or something. I don't want my precious account banned...

    I pre-ordered it from shopto.net on Friday and got it through the post on the Saturday morning...

    Only £32 as well too.

    It's currently £26.99 on steam with the 10% preorder discount. Rather have the box than save a few quid?

    I usually go retail if they price beat steam (which is surprisingly often). And by retail, I mean ebay...

    am from israel too and same thing happened to me so i had to buy it from direct2drive.
    luckily the week i bought it from d2d they sold preorders for 25% off so i got it for $37.49

    Israeli here too and Games For Windows works for me perfectly. I have it ever since I bought Dirt 2 from steam. It is a region thing. Steam pulls its store for you depending on your IP. So games like GTA were non to be found on steam for a very long time.

    It will come out, probably the same day as the rest of steam, so not to worry there.
    There is a way to bypass this, but it takes a lot of work to reroute your internet through a different IP so that Steam would think your american or european. I say forget about it and It'll come soon enough. I doubt Valve doesn't know to put big selling games like that on every region it has.

    I haven't tried it, but you could try to log into the internet steam website for UK (search for steam UK and it's the first hit). Maybe you could buy it through that store and have it appear on your account, but i wouldn't risk it.

    You could also try emailing Steam and ask about it to get a better release date.
