Never read the comic but the movie looks brilliant (and you know David Hayter won't let you down with the writing).
So, should I pick up the trade paperback for $11 and experience this classic in print first *OR* wait for the film, have a fun romp THEN go back and see how it lived up to the graphic novel?
Read Watchmen? Watch Watchmen?
So I check borders.com and it ships in 2 to 4 weeks from there:

WHAT IS THIS CRAP? I WANT IT NOW.
I'll have to check a comic shop...

the written form is the only comic included in time's top 100 novels. and its the only comic to win the hugo award.
"I can't believe the sales of the book have spiked this dramatically so far away from the movie's release date. It was in the Top 15 on Amazon last time I checked.Yeah, INSANE.
"
here's an article about it if anyone's interested

"Read it, I ordered it off of Amazon a week or so ago, it's amazing.Did you get it or is it still waiting to ship? I have a feeling that Amazon is waiting on a nice big delivery of more printings to ship.
"
Also, does anyone recommend Dark Knight Returns? I've never read a Frank Miller book and I hate the guy's art but I hear so much good about it.
Yeah, the graphic novel is sitting at No. 3 on the bestsellers list at Barnes & Noble. My particular store is run by geeks (including me), so we saw this spike coming. Fifty-two copies. The district manager thought us crazy, but when the graphic novel began fluttering off the shelves as quickly as the money out of the wallets of our customers, he changed his tune.
Yes, and I plan to.
And read the graphic novel first. it's fucking good, and the movie doesn't come out for nearly another half a year.

If the thought of reading makes you fall asleep there is another option. On Itunes you can watch a animated watchman comic. The first part is free. I would say get the book but if you just want a taste of what the story is like check out the first part is about 20mins or so. look for "animated watchman comic"
just so you guys know the movie is awesome... i havent read the book yet but i did see it in a sneek preview great movie... only down side is there is a little too much blue cock in it i swear it shows dr. manhattan's dick like 13 times no wonder it was rated R. and just so you know Rorschach was an excellent character in this movie just crazy it is well worth watching even if you havent read the novel.
The work as a whole is amazing. I know the Black Freighter parts are kind of a pain to slodge thru.
And you really should have at least a passing knowledge about the political climate was during the Cold War and the effect of how Viertnam went and Nixon never being caught changed the course of the US government standing in the world of the comic.
By the way, the script for the Watchmen movie that's getting released is not the same script David Hayter wrote (Which had an absolutely terrible ending)

I find Rorschach to be a fantastic layered character, but from the tone of this poster I'm afraid the movie has turned him into some Punisher/Batman pastiche.
omg, I havent read the graphic novel yet v.v BUT I SURE AS HECK WILL WATCH THE MOVIE! :D
It looks like its made of total epic win! xD
