Guild Wars Insider's HAPPYcat has posted a neat article remembering that fateful May 2007 issue of PCGamer which announced both GW: EN and GW2. Specifically, it compares promises for content that ArenaNet made in the announcement versus what we know about the now content-complete version of Guild Wars 2. It's interesting to see what they've realized wouldn't work with their design philosophy (this article forgets to mention the original plan for dual professions), but I'm more impressed by how incredibly close they stuck to their original vision of the game. I might go so far as to say that if someone asks you for reasons to trust what ArenaNet says to point them towards this article. Enjoy, folks.

QFT. That was fun. Interesting how the one feature ArenaNet cut from their concept is now one of Bioware's defining features for SW:TOR. The permanent NPC companion for every player.
