Ben Judd, #69
In between accepting submissions tonight, I noticed Nick Chester's daily wrap-up of news bits on
Destructoid contained a link to a Japanese story out of Dengeki Online on Bionic Commando: Rearmed. Seems like Capcom's hot-looking remake has been getting pushed back time and time again, and if this amazing photo of
Ben Judd, macking like a mack does, is to be believed, the game is going to come out on 69!
Wait, that doesn't make any sense, let me back up... OK, I see what I did. Anyways, after running Dengeki's story through the good ol' Google Translator, it makes it sound like Bionic Commando Rearmed is going to hit Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network next week. It also revealed this unintentionally terrific machine translation gem:
"This time, the Naniwa NAISUGAIPURODYUSA Ben Judd, who appeared in the history and development of the film in which he does not appeal to me."
It's good to know that Google's translation robots find Ben Judd unappealing.
Anyway, this is the translated bit that matters:
- BAIONIKKUKOMANDO the revival of Master Plan D
- Manufacturer: Capcom
- FOR: PS3/Xbox 360 (download only)
- Genre: ACT
- Release Date: PS3 2008 year on July 30 appointment / Xbox 360 2008 plan year on July 31
- Price: PS3 1200 yen (tax included) / Xbox 360 800 Microsoft Points
Hot. Capcom's US-run blog, which is about as loose with the info as a publisher-run blog could get, hasn't updated with anything, but hey, keep your fingers crossed, and by this time next week, maybe we'll all be playing a little Don't Touch The Ground in multiplayer.
Head over to
Dengeki for the full (Japanese) story.
[UPDATE] Between the news that Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 was hitting XBLA next week and a Famitsu story rebutting this supposed release date, it looks like we'll all have to wait a little longer to swing around and shoot Nazis. Curses!

through the translator from English to Japanese then from Japanese to English just for fun and to see how the translation would change. What I got was:
"At this point, the Naniwa naisugaipurodyusa Ben Judd, who appeared in the film history and development of his appeal to me."
It's pretty useless, I know, but it somewhat illustrates how stories might change overtime especially when crossing language barriers.
By the way, Jeff, thanks for introducing me to the Google translator. Didn't know about that one.
