If you’re one of the people who’ve lucked into an early Vita, it’s now possible to start downloading PSP games onto the device. You can’t just dump any PSP game from PlayStation Network onto a Vita.
On the PlayStation Blog, Sony has outlined a list of 275 games that are already capable of making the PSP-to-Vita transition, with “more” games being added to that list “in the coming weeks.”
Whether Sony is aiming for complete compatibility isn’t known, but I’ve asked for clarity on that.

This in spades. What the hell is Sega doing?
@Korg said:
No Kingdom Hearts, either, so disappointment for all.
Option+F -> "The Warriors" + "Rock Band Unplugged" + "Patchwork Heroes" -> Not found.

"Ctrl F, Valkyria."
... sonofa...
- Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble
Really the only thing people should care about.Oh, also, no Lumines on that list.
Nice. All but one of my UMD games I was going to trade in for credit towards a PSN card. This is odd though. Ys: Seven and Oath in Felghana but not 1+2 Chronicles?
Valkyria Chronicles 2 DOES work, as do other games not on the list.
Yes, Corpse Party is there. I waited to buy that game until I would get a Vita.
3rd Birthday is on that list twice.
And people should calm down, this is only the first bc patch.
Wait, the Metal Gear games are not on this list, but I've seen at least one of the Metal Gear games (Peace Walker I believe), being played on a Vita.

I think this list is games that work 100%. Some games not listen work (VALKYRIA 2 DOES WORK) but I don't think they list non 100% working emulation. I dunno.
Stupid question before I go look it up myself: What about PSOne classics, like Resident Evil 2 and FFVII, VIII, and IX? Are they all compatible, not initially compatible, or not compatible and no plans to be so?
This, along with financial reasons, is why I will wait for buying this system. I can't wait to have one of these, but if I can't play ANY of my downloaded games (Peace Walker? Valkyria? Phantasy Star 2?) or PSONE games, I will wait on this. Not paying 250 bones to NOT play my current games. Would love to see support for the PS2 classics as well, maybe some PSN games too.
I find the lack of classic Final Fantasy disturbing.

Unfortunately PSOne classics will not be playable on the Vita at launch, except via Remote Play. They said PSOne games will be playable eventually though.
@Asmo917: I'm not sure if this has changed, but I remember hearing a couple months back that PSOne classics wouldn't be working at launch, but will be fairly soon after.
